CS2 - MIC NOT WORKING - [!SOLUTION!]
A new update has fixed this issue. Open CS2, go to Settings > Audio and select your input device and adjust your mic threshold!

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO hopefully FIX YOUR IN-GAME MIC

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR MIC ACTUALLY WORKS BEFORE DOING ANY OF THIS. I RECOMMEND USING "AUDACITY": https://www.audacityteam.org/download/

PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL YOUR AUDIO & GRAPHICS DRIVERS ARE UP-TO-DATE (ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A USB MIC)

SOLUTION 1:
Step 1: Open Steam & launch CS2.
Step 2: Open Steam overlay (Shift+Tab) and open the "Settings" window.
Step 3: Go to the "Voice" tab & select the correct mic/input device.
Step 4: Make sure your "Input/Volume Gain" is set to max & turn off "Voice Transmission Threshold"
Step 5: Now go to the "In-game Voice" tab (it only appears after talking ingame, its a bit random when or if this tab appears)
Step 6: From there you can repeat Step 3 & 4.

SOLUTION 2:
Step 1: Find & open "Sound Control Panel" in Windows.
Step 2: Go to the "Recording" tab & find your correct mic/input device.
Step 3: Make sure to disable all other input devices that you don't want to use (Sometimes CS2 thinks your webcam or game controller is your default mic input).
Step 4: Right-Click on the correct mic/input device and go to "Properties".
Step 5: Go the "Levels" tab and make sure your mic/device input volume is set to 100%.
Step 6: From there you should experiment with the "Microphone Boost" level as this may be the only reason why CS2 is not picking up your mic. I've set mine to 20% but this varies from mic to mic. (NOTE: you might have to lower your input volume on Discord after this.)

SOLUTION 3:
Step 1: Literally just move your mic closer to your mouth or talk louder.

same for me, I'm using Samson C01U, works everywhere, even with Steam mic test. But not this game. when I push the in-game key to speak I can see I have a voice icon but with with only 1 wave (anyone talking would have voice icon with 3 waves). This must mean the game recognizes my mic but could not output sounds.
This is exactly my issue, I hope they fix it soon

I use bluetooth headphones.
the solution that worked for me:
went to csgo2 settings->audio, manually selected bluetooth handfree option.
Same with HyperX Cloud II
I HATED MIC IN CS2 !!!
Hello. So I live in the united states and i installed windows 11 Pro N but the latest version. When that happened my in game mic stopped working. i tried to install media pack to get it working and it would not install because there is not an optional media pack for the latest windows 11 pro N so what i did was i reverted back to windows 10 pro N that could install successfully the latest media pack which has some required files for mic channel selection in cs2 and when I did that, i then upgraded up to windows 11 pro N again and my mic worked in game...

Windows 10
In the Search bar, search for "apps" and select Apps and features.

Select Optional features > Add a feature.

add the media pack but you have to be at a version of windows 10 that will accept the install. once the media pack is installed then you can upgrade to windows 11 and your mic will work in game... You're all welcome.

Hi,

My mic is not working in CS2 while it works in all other programs, CS:GO included.
I have changed and messed with Windows settings, Steam settings & CS2 settings (very limited atm) but nothing seems to work. The game displays my name when I push my PTT button but my teammates can't hear me...

This is very frustrating......

Could this be a VALVe problem ? idk... Can someone help ??????????

love,

UPDATE:
Go to Windows sound control panel and find your correct mic device, right click on it and go to properties. Go to the "levels" tab and make sure your mic input volume is 100% and put your gain volume to 10%-20%. That should make your mic loud enough for CS2 to pick it up.

Make sure you have also selected the correct input mic in Steam settings (not in-game) [you can also adjust your input volume there but It seems like that does not have effect in-game].

Note: you might have to adjust your Discord mic settings after as your mic is now much louder.
same bro...

Try updating Driver Easy. It helped me.
try the +30db in windows sound settings
just worked for me :steamhappy:
si es un bug del juego
Something else that fixed it for me

-> Shift + Tab
-> Settings
-> Voice
Scroll down to -> "Voice Transmission Threshold" and set it to "None".

The reason why it does what it does in CS2 is because it thinks you are talking too quietly, and acts as a noise gate, like discord, except Steam sucks at it.
works for me brother love u big time <3
