It's not about mac design. If they used Metal API we could get similar performance to PC. It's more about Apple not taking gaming seriously. They are doing baby steps to help and encourage developers to make more games and translate them to Metal. I can play many games with pretty good performance on my M1MAX 32cores even if it's going thru translation layer. Games that are using Metal API work even better. I play CSGO in 2k with 100+ fps, I could prolly go for 150 if I used lower resolution and lowest settings. And yes I know that most PC's get 300fps or even 1k fps with high-end ones, but then again - CSGO workes thru translation layer Rossetta, and not natively. If it was going thru METAL API it could go 300fps easy
