Any laptop gamers here using a RTX4050
Best buy has a $699 RTX4050 laptop on sale

Think it would be a substantial jump over the 3050?

depends on various factors like power target of the laptop, but i would at best estimate 1-4% more gpu power ... so no . the only real difference is 4050 supports dlss3.

Honestly the xx50 series isn't made for gaming.

Go for a 4060 at least.

Also laptops are not made for gaming. I know some people are on vacation a lot and thus a laptop makes more sense because they can take it with them but generally you have to pay at least 30% more money to get the same performance and it has a performance cap. Also you can't really upgrade laptops.

So go for a pc. i5 xx600k and a xx60 rtx and you're good to go. Cheap and fast.

I'm just at that age that laptop is convenient. I am a traveler to some extent, so having the ability to game on the go and just the smaller form factor versus a large PC is a big deal for me.

Then you should go for a i5 10600k-12600k, rtx 3060- 4060 and 144/240hz monitor. Or something better if you've more money to spare.

avoid a laptop at all costs, you'd be better off building a pc for that budget, and if you travel a lot, go for a handheld like a max tier steam deck or an updated version once they release. There is 0 reason to buy an overheating mess which is hard to service and costs the same as a decent build.
Plus, idk about bestbuy, but any "gaming" laptop for less than 1500$ is a pile of burning trash

Hmm, I might have to make this jump.

I've been playing on a ultra wide screen monitor lately. I see so many enemies that most players don't see because I have such a large FOV.

The other part of me loves how a $700 laptop can actually run the game decently. I mean 200fps/120hz is decent.

Ultra wide monitors are great for many games, especially racing etc.

But there is a reason why all god people keep playing on 16:9 monitor and more than 95% of people even play 4:3 (stretched or with black bars).

CS always was a game where you look at the center of the monitor 99.5% of the time. The only time you blink towards any other direction is because you want to check radar, your health, ammo etc.

You actually don't look around your monitor to find enemies, you move your crosshair with crosshair placement.

I saw yozr videos and that you use an ultra wide screen. This is one of the reasons why you stay in lower ranks. You can still use that monitor but use a 4:4ä3 resolution - I hoped that monitor also has at least 120/144 hz.

Heh, you can play 16:9 on ultrawide and play just fine. If you have played enough cs and have control like ropz, you don't need to adjust your aspect ratio.

I benefit greatly from finding players that would otherwise be in my blind spot.

Also in order to get maximum fps in cs, you want rasterization, which would be amd gpu's. Cs2 doesn't have ray tracing, I am pretty sure
