Counter-Strike 2

Statistiche:
CS2: Could someone explain why less weapon choice is good?
Disregarding the UI changes, my issue with the new buy menu is how it seemingly restricts access to weapons. Is there any benefit to removing the full buy menu and shrinking it down to a set of 15 weapons? I could see how the process of choosing a loadout before a game is interesting, but we're not (as of now) getting any new weapons to choose from. It is simply less content.

I understand that choosing a PP-Bizon in favor of a MAC-10 is seldom good, and that buying an M249 on the 15th round isn't competitive or 'meta' in any sense, but it does bring fun to the experience. I'm only DMG, but having the loadout restricted to fewer weapons more or less forces me to forego the occasional but fun guns in favor of meta ones.

Speaking of meta, won't removing player choice make it more stale overall? With the smaller buy menu, how can Valve encourage the use of less common weapons without needlessly buffing them?

Valve pushes this game so hard as an esport, they dont care about the fun anymore
CS was always an esport game in the first place.
well it was just a casual mod if memory serves correct, not even created by valve.

There have been professional events in CS since 2000, with The CPL(Cyberathlete Professional League).

The game started off as a mod, yes, but the intention for competitive play was always there.

then why are they catering to casuals now. In a competitive nature you are focus and make your choices count, if you flub and buy the wrong item just stick with it and adapt. That says comp e sport not a refund system.

Because the 'casual' market is the largest market in video gaming, which in theory means more potential sales.
Its a big mistake in my opninion. You are forced to take the awp even if you dont play it.

Pretty much nothing will change, to be fair. You'd need a plethora of more options to choose from in order to actually have a "restriction". With 15 weapons to choose from, I'm just taking a Deagle, a Tec/Five-Seven - that's basically all I'd ever need for pistols besides of the starter.
M4 + M4-S/AK - given that I'm a Rifler, I rarely play the AWP either way. Might take a Scout for good measure

Give me an UMP for SMGs and we're basically all set already. In 90% of my matches, I barely if at all touch other weapons. Nevermind, I do touch the Nova sometimes... and Negev when we're playing competitive office.. :D

What would be your 5 weapon choices if you didnt pick the awp? I was thinking 5 slots should be more than enough.

If you force me its probably, awp, scout, both m4 and famas. Techincally fine but as a casual player I enjoy random aug or auto sniper from time to time. It takes something away from casual gameplay and doesnt add anything I think.

For Pros Im not sure how they would deal with it, but I can see that it might be beneficial that the entire team has nearly the same setup for dropping reasons.

I dont see currently what this adds to the game, it only takes away it seems.

So you would still bring the awp, seems like this update suits your needs better than it did before with the option to pick both M4's. If you would rather a second M4 than the aug or auto.

For pros I dont see why this would effect them at all. They would buy and use all the same weapons as before, with the addition option of both m4's.

It adds variety, what is it taking away?

Being able to buy both m4 is not a product of the slot system, it doesnt count for me.
In a standard try hard match I use like 6-7 weapons inlcuding both sides. That leaves plenty of room, but that view point makes the system pointless and the only effect is that it might remove some silly play we all enjoy from time to time.

I dont see the benefit this has over just letting everything be an option. Counter strike is not built for this, atleast not yet. Maybe they have huge plans to add many weapons at which point it makes sense to play specific loadouts, but for now I dont see it.

I absolutely is as you werent able to before. Furthermore you cant purchase 7 different rifles there is only 6 slots currently. Most players wont even buy more than 3 different rifles.

Well now you can pick both m4's like you want. Thats a benefit right?
The new buy menu feels like something from the nineties implemented in 2023. It's surely more newbie-friendly, but it's also more complex/cluttered and static (animation wise).

Reducing the amount of weapons you can choose from also feels restrictive, but I honestly couldn't care less.

If they don't improve the performance of the game, we'll see a substantial drop in the player base just for the lack of good hardware. The queuing system feels like a joke and so far it has been a total of zero updates regarding ranking and matchmaking.

By the way, when they released Dust 2 it was exciting and everything. I've played Mirage yesterday and, as far as I can tell, it felt like old-news pretty fast. There's not so much changes. Same maps, slightly weirder lights and utility effects, but less performant, slightly easier and that's it. Literally played one match and came back to CS:GO.

Thats because the update doesnt have anything to do with ranks/MM. In a way you could also say it allows for MORE option such as being able to pick both m4s.

I don't see any advantage on being able to pick both M4s. A much more valuable feature was being able to toggle off the silencer removal. That was actually really welcome.
