CS2 Weapon Details
I'd love to hear thoughts on this as a lot of people care about the maps, but what are peoples opinions on how the guns themselves look?

I personally find that the guns, I'm also assuming the devs are still working on textures and sounds, to be a little cartoonish. A lot of texture, actual texture, such as wear/scratches/and other details like that, seem to be missing on a lot of guns. Good example, from my knowledge, is the Deagle, is a lot more flat. Being nit picky on my end, irl gun metal is usually machined and has those drill bit scratches and aren't polished to perfection, this was shown well in CSGO. No complaints, everything is still WIP obv, but I would love to hear others thoughts on it.

I agree. I think they want to make the base models 'better' for skins, not to provide decent default models.

all things that you're talking about are called imperfectios in 3d art such surface imperfections in textures (scratches and smudges...) they changed the gun models for cs2 you can compare the deagle it looks much better now, for the textures i don't think they will add imperfection because of the float values (at least the FN, MW skins will look clean)

True, but for a Source 2 being such a graphic overhaul, I would expect them to put in those details. It's not too difficult to grab a wire/scratchy texture brush and make a texture to slap on it. And for factory new, it still makes sense for the machined elements of gunmetal, especially being in a war/military setting a brand spanking new professionally polished weapon makes no sense. But hey, just nit picks.
