When you have too many weapons you end up with games like CoD/BF where you have a TON of useless guns and others will be just leagues above all the others. It'll be a never ending game of balancing. With what little they did add to the game throughout the years they still messed up with. (R8)
This game is known for it's balance and competitive nature. It doesn't need a ton of new guns to remain one of the top games on steam.. Simplicity is key.
Yeah. It doesn't matter at all in a coop game or even so much in a casual twitch shooter like CoD.
But it's horrible in competitive games like Siege, where they have 50 operators with different weapons and every month for the last 8 years they've been nerfing and buffing them.
Go play games like BF and CoD and see how balance in those games work. Getting one shot snipers as a primary load out. Broken perks, weapon attachments, busted aim assists, etc.
