I need help trading csgo skins

Ive been playin csgo for a very long time. Ive known about skins, knifes. I always opened cases, nothing. Till one day I had $5 on my account and inventoried my first knife... It was a FT- Survival | Crimson web. Ive been on this website called csgofloat, and when I saw that I could sell my Crimson web for $280+ I went straight for the discounted knifes. I saw that on the website csgo float that the knifes are listed for a lower price and below the price for the website, There is a steam market price. I got 2 knifes. ★ StatTrak™ Bowie Knife | Rust Coat Battle scarred ... and a.... ★ StatTrak™ Gut Knife | Boreal Forest Well Worn. Added those 2 together and I got around 600$. Did I just scam myself into 2 knifes then keeping the 1 better one?

All depends what you after. If the price is still the same you can exchange it back for what ever you desire. Or just sell it for cash on skinport.

Im trying to trade up to a Butterfly knife but should I never use steam market as a reference? I just think I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up

I made this mistake back in early 2014 :D
My advice is to ignore & avoid statrak unless u really like the statrak counter for ingame kills, for trading purposes avoid statrak.

Depends really, check buyorders for those 2 knives on steam, compare it to your previous knife, or better check buff163 and also check sell records, u will see how much u lost easily.

No not at all, Im trying to get a understanding trading and I think I ended up hurting myself. The gut knife I have last sold for 95$ but the sell before it was 1700$. It says for me on steam market the gut knife starts at 530$ so just doing math I assumed I profited but now im getting second thoughts. I just need help with trading.

Yeah, you read something wrong there. The steam price it lists is not the price of the exact skin you are looking at. Maybe a #1 float or rare pattern version of it sold for 1700. Doesnt mean the one you are looking at did.

If you want a skin, buy it. Dont try the buy low/sell high game. It will only hurt you.
