Actually banned for no reason... "Party Member Banned"

So I was permanently game banned for some reason by Overwatch for being in a party with a kid that started blatantly hacking - to which I myself reported him... so I basically got myself banned for no reason.

I met the kid 3 games prior, and was in a party of 3, of which the third player received ZERO consequence - and he had played all 3 of those games too!

Logged back in to steam after being kicked from the game a few seconds after the kid was banned and got 2 game ban notifications in steam

Launched the game right back up to see why I was disconnected from the game, and was given the following single ban / not really a ban notification in game.

According to the below article, AND the fact that the ban info itself says I just have to play one game to re-gain a rank, I'm not sure why I was banned not once, BUT TWICE for the same offence - WHICH ISNT EVEN AN OFFENCE.

The scope of this punishment is to make it so that you "never" played with the cheater in the first place.

They do that by:
- Removing your experience earned with the cheater;
- Removing your wins earned with the cheater;
- Removing your loses (you can't see them) earned with the cheater;
- Removing the matches from your history (enemy team, and other people on your team, NOT in your lobby, will still have the match history);
- Removing your competitive rank if you were close to deranking (they actually remove the point progress you have towards the next rank, again, something you do not see).

If anyone is able to help me with this one, i'm truly baffled. I'm not a hacker/cheater/idiot,
i just bought a karambit with my own money 2 weeks prior for a load of money....
I'd have to be the dumbest hacker alive to spend that much money and go ahead and abuse a game i've been playing for half my life.

To top it all off, I had just received Nova 1 about a week prior, and was given overwatch ability - something I thought was for trusted players only???

Valve has not responded to my steam ticket in over a month now...
Steam at this point is no longer acknowledging my tickets about my ban and just closing them :/

Isn't it their job to investigate obvious developer abuse of in-game bans?

No amount of crying will reverse the decision. You were caught. Case closed.

In short the message means all the games you played with them got revoked and your rank + trust factor were re-adjusted. This would NOT result in a ban.

It would only result in a ban if he was giving you information mid game and you listened to it. Making Overwatch reviewers believe that you were ALSO cheating. They have no idea who you are que'd up with when they watch the demo. So all they can do is watch your PoV and decide.

Or if you were just caught griefing in previous games where you were team shooting, going AFK for many hours, etc. Again, they can't see if you're in a party with someone. To them it looks like a person throwing the game without realizing it could be a party of 5 all goofing off.

Right, but if I was banned for cheating, it wouldn't be giving me that notification about the kid that was banned for using the same hack every kid uses when you watch overwatch cases... he was spinning around shooting people with a scout.

I was banned as soon as I clutched the end of that round, after seeing someone pick up an awp, and his AK went flying in to my vision, and I awp killed him... Nothing magical or crazy going on with my gameplay because i don't hack.

I hate the people that crawl these forums just to spew the BS to every person complaining about their ban "you got caught, case closed".... you're spamming without even reading the post - against the forum rules @space.

This IS NOT A VAC BAN. NO hacks were detected on my system because there is none.
It is a GAME ban by the DEVELOPER / overwatch.... I wasn't CAUGHT doing anything.

The only thing I can think of is that when someone gets reported of cheating and gets banned, if i'm in their party & same game, and some overwatch reports me too - it's probably automatic, even if it's a single overwatch reviewer's opinion.

Throughout my many years of playing this game, I have also ignorantly played with cheaters without knowing. They got banned and I got the same message. I however, did not get banned.

It is not because you played with a cheater. Like I said, if he was giving you calls to where they were, the OW reviewers might have also assumed you were walling as well. You just listened to him thinking he had info legitimately.

The reason the kid turned his hacks on is because i told him before the game I would gift him a $10 steam gift card if he top fragged - and after half time, he was nowhere near top frag, and he turned it on. I reported him as soon as I noticed. I had only partied up with him 3 games prior, same as the guy in the in-game screenshot that is at the top of my friends list - he was in the same party - did not receive any rank reset or game ban as I did.

So tell me, if the only game ban information I received in the CSGO client was the attached screenshot above, what was I banned for? The steam client ban says to launch the csgo client to see the details of why I was banned - I did, and I've provided that picture here - which everyone agrees is not grounds for a ban.

SO, is this not a consensus that I was banned for an unknown reason?

Holy cow... Guy saying he's not good but is going 37 kills, 41 kills, 46 kills, 38 kills... His last match, 8 people all have bans. So that's pretty easy to say it was a low trust factor lobby.

Notice the time frames? I have been training with friends that have much higher ranks offline - you can see my scores gradually move upward from november 2022.

If you must know, my girlfriend passed away in my home in april 2022, and I was in and out of the hospital struggling to cope, but my friends tried to help me keep my mind off of things by helping me get better at csgo starting November. Have friends that will vouche.
