Does Anyone Use Surround Sound Headphones?
I have the ingame audio settings on headphones. I have had Logitech G430 surround sound headphones for a while and they work very well in CSGO when NOT in surround mode. When in normal mode, I can easily locate where I hear sounds from and they sound good. When I change my headphones to surround mode through the Logitech Gaming Software program, audio in CSGO sounds hollow like there is no base, and it mucks up location too. Turning the base up does not improve the sound.

I wonder if anyone else uses this headset in surround mode with headphones on in-game settings in CSGO and if you encounter similar problems at all.

Note: Movies in surround sound good with my headphones. I have not tried other games.

Edit: When I put headphones to surround, CSGO sounds like it is being played through a hollow pair of $5 headphones with no bass.

Im using g930 with the virtual 7.1 turned on. I cant play any other way, without surround sound on i can pin point where the source of the sound is coming from other than left or right. Surround virtual 7.1 lets me know left or right, front back or middle. I love it and makes it so much easier to play well.

CSGO has excellent positional audio when using the 'headphones' setting in game. The problem is that it does not sound at all natural, and many players (myself included) prefer to use a soundcard or headphones with virtual surround sound (or in some expensive headphones real surround).

Also note that afaik CSGO will not send more than 5.1 positional audio. If you have a headset with real 7.1 surround, some of your speakers will not be utilized.

My friend has the same set of headphones as me and he has surround sound on. He says it sounds excellent. Mine sounds excellent with it turned off, and terrible with it turned on. We have same in-game settings, and both have up-to-date drivers/software. I am just wondering if someone has the same model of headphones and have figured out how to fix it.

I use my Laptop's speaker. Still shooting people through walls though.

I have the g633s. They work fine in 7.1 mode but a few things:

  • Turn on per-profile settings and make new .exe association in LGS for CS:GO.

  • Use 'FPS' setting in LGS Equalizer for your new CS:GO profile.

  • In Surround tab of LGS, Set rear speakers to 8-9 instead of 11 for this profile (Might differ for your set.)

  • Set audio in CS:GO settings to '5.1'
