Need help with GSYNC and fps cap

So I don't know if it's a bug with csgo but if i've read somewhere that if i enable g-sync i need to cap my fps lower e.g (for 120hz monitor, cap fps at 116. 144hz monitor, cap fps at 140. etc).
But i have a problem here, if i cap my fps at fps_max 140. my fps goes around 130~. so basically my fps cap is below what my fps_max is. do i still cap my fps at 140 or find a sweet spot where my fps caps actually caps at 140?

l sold my Gsync monitor and bought a freesync.
Gsync doesnt works well with csgo at all better to use freesync.

fps_max set to 2 below your refresh rate is the correct way. If the fps drops below that during gameplay, G-SYNC will work correctly as that's what it's meant for.
