Intellimouse 1.1a vs G502?
I keep hearing wonders about the intellimouse 1.1a being the best 400 dpi mouse. I currently have a G502 and since the 1.1a is so cheap, i thought why not try it? Is it worth spending $30 to get it? Also I hear there are a lot of fakes out there. This is the one i thought about getting: http://www.ebay.com/itm/IntelliMouse-Optical-1-1A-USB-PS-2-Compatible-/162047372942?hash=item25bac6ae8e:g:lCgAAOSwlfxXGr3i

Is it genuine? Thanks!

The intellimouse, 1.1 being a favourite among many for it's ergonomic design, is the best 400dpi mouse out there because of Microsoft's intellimouse tech. When you look at the refresh rate from the mouse it is at a constant rate (400) where as when I did the same test with my steel series kinzu mouse (I am aware this is a pretty basic mouse) the report rate was all over the place even though the kinzu's polling rate was set to a "stable" (their words) 500hz.

Myself and my friend, who played 1.6 semi pro, love the feel of this mouse. When you stop, it stops. It just feels very solid. When (if) you first try it it might not feel like there's any change at all, but the intellimouse 1.1's strength lies in it's absolute consistency. I had my first intellimouse for 13 years before it gave in, then I bought one off ebay which was an office repurposed one and it works great.

I HIGHLY recommend trying an intellimouse 1.1. I haven't tried the 3.0 version so cannot comment on it.

Sorry for the necro

Oh and if you wanna eek every possible edge, get the ps2 version if your pc supports it as it will be slightly faster than USB as it doesn't have any other USB devices to contend with. Though this won't make much of a difference. It's kind of like setting your IP address to 192.168.1.128 /24 because the last octet (.128) in binary is represented as 10000000 so your computer will compute the packet microseconds faster as it reads the 1 at the beginning and quickly goes through the zeroes (to put it in laymens terms) :p

Personally no mouse can out do the switches high end gaming mice have. The 1.1 is very consistant and is great. However there are mice today that preform better and have other features that far out do what a mouse that old can do. I use a Logitech G900 (soon to be G903) and it's the absolute best experience I have had with a mouse. 1000hz poll instead of the 400 of the 1.1 as well as 1-12000 dpi. Most logitech mice can also tune to the surface you are playing on making them far more consistant than an optical mouse can be. And truth be told the mouse you have will only make so much of a diffrence. Unless you are a top5% player or higher having a tiny bit faster response time on your mouse will not really improve on your skill. I can do just as well with a 20$ mouse as my 150$ mouse. It all comes down to personal prefrence and what you want your mouse to have for options
