to you: wtf why are you using a hdmi cable for 144hz it only (theoretically) supports 120hz and good luck trying to get a hdmi cable that supports it irl and to make it even more difficult hdmi cannot into overclocking to 120hz only 75hz (from my testing) and also what dp level anyway (1.2, 1.3 or 1.4) and make sure the graphics card, the cable and the monitor are the same version.

Get the cheapest dual link DVI or DisplayPort cable you care to get. Don't go super overboard.
HDMI and single link DVI does not have the bandwidth for 1920x1080 @ more than 60hz. You need Dual Link DVI; or the newest standard, which is DisplayPort.
