Returning to Comp, the Salt is high...

After 6 months of no Competitive (I still played Casual to rank up most weeks), I've decided to get back into it (nothing OTT, just a game or two here and there). I've played 3 games over these last few weeks and each time I am branded a hacker and so on. I use Prime, I have only account (I think my post history is enough to tell you just how much I despise hackers/smurfs, etc), yet here I am, having lost my MGE rank, 6 months later to find myself starting again, now placed as a Silver 3 and the salt levels from others are shocking.

I would say I am a pretty good player. I understand sound/rader, positioning (to a degree, I still mess up) etc and generally make an effort to get on with my team. Is this how it is at low levels now? That everyone better than another is branded and name called throughout the match? I'm just wondering if others are finding this out for themselves, perhaps you've had a Competitive lay off also and get verbally abused a lot.

That said, each of these 3 'Prime Only' have been great fun. From my point of view, I have been matched with friendly players, along with zero cheaters. Good job Valve. Hopefully this is a sign of thing to come, especially as Prime moves out of Beta.

The present state and what was a year ago, i see no difference. Don't expect for miracle to happen for you, behaviour in general of other poeple can't be controled. Just do the things that you did before. Ask yourself - maybe its not worth trying at all ? Why you need to go all up again thru that mass of frustration that awaits for you ? You can daily face your frustration at job, in relationships and personal life as you go.

Cheers for the reply. I didn't mind the 'hacusations' as such, I just felt a little disappointed. The opposing team were constantly trying to kick each other, to no avail (really guys, why is this even a thing...) and cried foul every round they lost.

The funniest moments were when they claimed I was wallhacking. These guys running around in their size 9's making so much noise, it was obvious where they were.

The main reason for me getting back into Comp was simply to get back into Overwatch. I feel I've got a good eye at spotting a cheater. Whatever I can do to kerb these scumbags, I will happily do.

Overwatch can handle player from Silver 1 up to ~Gold Nova Master, anything above that, Overwatch investigators don't know what they are doing. Even if you spot a part when it becomes clear for you that The Suspect is cheating, it's up to the rest of the people if the player is going to be punished, and it's 99,9% that he won't be. When I had some discussions with some people over some replays, I realised that I was wasting my time. Most of the time they said the player wasn't cheating or there weren't enough proof. Overwatch takes care only of spinboters, more obvious ones, which snap right to the head of the player. VAC tries to catch the better ones, when half of those could actually be caught in Overwatch.

I agree, blatent cheaters were very obvious when I was doing Overwatch last year. I use to do it as the beginning of my stream, though work/life has moved me away from that for now. Still, whatever any one of us can do, it can't be a bad thing.

Believe me, I'm far from the age of a 'kid', but salt or salty is something I've been hearing/called for a while now, and well, its mildly amusing :)

Ya Prime is good as well for me. In all fairness, I did only play 3 games and won them all. Unfortuanely we were winning BIG. Last game we won was 16-0. I hope I rank up fast and soon. I actually was not having that much fun playing with real Silver 4 players, in a sense, I am not looking to smurf on them. I was deranked due to the new ranking system (GN1 down to silver 4) and now I would like to get back to me proper rank with the help of PRIME.

PS. Sorry in advance to all players that have to deal with unintentional players who ranks were forced nerfed. Unlike smurfs, we want to get back to and get our ranks back.

Absolutely agree. I have only ever had one account for Steam/CS etc, and it is annoying to be called one simply due to Comp inactivity, or as you mentioned, forced nerfs of ranks. I'll be glad when I'm back to where I was before (or somewhere near).

I believe that it is not up to just one Overwatch judge. If I am correct, the same case goes to a few people with OW. I think they do this for consistency. So if one judge reportes a suspect for cheating, the other judge may not.
