Black screen at startup
Whenever I launch the game it just opens on black screen. I can hear the sound, bgm and the SfX too while I'm moving the mouse. I'm very tired :( I just want to play.. My laptop works fine with dota 2, stable fps and everything.

I have tried the following:
Updating my video card driver\
delete csgo.exe
Verifying integrity
Run as administrator
Turn off compatibility mode.
Uninstall > Reinstall game
-nod3d9ex
reinstall directx
GeSaDo mod (for dark souls 3)

My specs:
Windows 10 64-bit, 8gb ram, 2.67ghz cpu, Acer Aspire Timelinex 4820tg

This might actually work for you but people have stated that it can still crash their game throughout playing, Its at your OWN RISK if you decide to play Match Making due to the fact I've told you possible crashing is still a factor and any Cooldown ban you gain is at your own cost, obviously I hope the game runs perfectly and without crashes but be warned.

If you have been a naughty player and get cool downs of 7 days, please don't play competitive until you are fully satisfied with the results of the fix (if it works) Go play Death Match or Casual for an hour or two until you are completely sure it'll not crash/freeze.

Hopefully Valve will release an update which will fix the ever so horrible issues that have been caused by the Update from [- 01/04/2015 -] which are FPS Drops, Unloadable game, Game Crashing/Game Freezing.

FIX:

Locate "\SteamApps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo.exe" and right click the file and goto properties, once in properties UNCHECK 'Run As Administrator' and also UNCHECK 'Compatibility Mode' and then press 'Apply' then click 'OK'.

Proceed with loading Steam and selecting Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and press Play, Hopefully this has fixed the current update bug that has caused it to crash/freeze.

FIX 2:

A user called gruhl on a different Topic who has the same issue posted the following:

Go to your CS:GO folder, find csgo.exe (the application which starts the game) and DELETE this app. Then go to steam library - Right click CSGO - Go to properties - Local files - Verify integrity of Game Cache. When it's done you will get new csgo.exe file. Then right click on this new csgo application - Properties - Compatibility, and UNCHECK everything.
Go to Library - CS:GO - Properties - Set launch Options - cl_disablehtmlmotd 1
Then run the game from steam and check if it helps.

1. Open your Steam library
2. Search for CS:GO and right click on it
3. Select properties
4. Here select "Launch options"
5. and type in "-autoconfig"
6. Launch CSGO.

CSGO.exe has stopped working

1: Move out your cfg folder that is located at:
Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg

2: Start your game and configure your game settings back to normal and thats it.

CSGO.exe has stopped working - Alternative

1: Go to the following location:
Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg

2: Search and remove the file called "valve.rc" from within the cfg folder and delete or move that file from the cfg folder.

3: Load CSGO and play.

Note:

Do not "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE" after removing the full cfg folder or "valve.rc" file as it will only be re-downloaded causing the fix to not work.

Only Verify if you really need to but remember that if you do, you'll have to complete the following fix again, which only takes a few minutes.

Razer Synapse
Razer Synapse is our unified configuration software that allows you to rebind controls or assign macros to any of your Razer peripherals and saves all your settings automatically to the cloud. No more tedious device configurations when you arrive at LAN parties or tourneys, as you can pull them from the cloud, and get owning right away.

With that said, a user under the name of liydah Said that closing Razer Synapse has helped fix their problem with CSGO.
It's a quick and easy thing to do for those users having CSGO problems with that specific mouse/software.

I found if I uninstall local files and reinstall it works once then black screens again on next launch, do you see this also?
RyZ_ZeN Jan 10, 2017 @ 11:14am
Any idiots proof update yet?

Caution Feb 3, 2017 @ 4:03pm
This worked for me! (after trying all the options mentioned above without success)
simply make the "csgo.exe" in the csgo install folder run in compatibility mode: "windows 8" and you're good to go :D
Vallano Mar 8, 2017 @ 1:28pm
I have tried everything at this point but nothing works...Updating my video card driver, deleting csgo.exe, Verifying integrity, Running as administrator, Turning on and off compatibility mode, Uninstall > Reinstall game, reinstalling directx, changing the video settings to windowed. ugh this is really annoying me now seeing how its been going on like this for the past 3 days. For some reason even when I re downloaded league of legends it ALSO showed a black screen with sounds expect it actually let me launch it. Would this mean its a problem with my latop? because all my drivers seem to be up to date and idk what else it could be. im just so tired at this point...
