Bad FPS on a good system? [GTX1060, i7 6700HQ]
Evening fellas,

Just asking for a few quick suggestions since I'm getting quite bad FPS on a rather decent system.

Specs:
GTX 1060
i7 6700HQ

Power option: High performance
fps_max 999
CPU Usage: 40%
GPU Usage: 25%
v-sync off naturally
multi-core on in CS:GO
Nvidia drivers are up-to-date
AFAIK not thermal throttling.

It's a laptop and before the PCMR jumps in about how gaming laptops are ♥♥♥ and how desktop are better, I need it for school.

It does have Nvidia Optimus but I believe it's not using the iGPU because when I force it to use the iGPU, the FPS is a bit lower, although I'm not 100%.

And by bad FPS I mean 150-180 on an empty server, about 130-150 online and 65-100 with bots.

I always get above 120 FPS on ultra settings in Overwatch, which is odd.

Any suggestions?

How warm does your CPU gets when you are playing in a full server?

Make sure it's not overheating.

It seems to throttle at 95 degrees. Noticed it in Overwatch before.
In CS:GO it seems to reach 65, maybe 70 at most.

hmm so it's not thermal throttling, it's not even using full system power (which my laptop with a 4710HQ is..). It osunds like a software problem.

Can you tell me what procceses (exclude windows) and services you are running?
Can you make sure Nvidia is not choosing the graphical settings for the game?

I think your processor bottle necks your Graphics. CS:GO is performance game, and takes up lots of your processor power. Since most laptops have lesser cores than the pc counter parts, this drops the frame rate a lot.

You are trolling arent you?

I'm fairly sure I should be getting more than I currently am, especially considering the low GPU and CPU usage. I know CS:GO is CPU biased.

I have already edited all the Nvidia control panel settings to what makes sense: maximum performancem vsync off, etc.

A lot of processes are running. MSI has got loads of bloatware. I already removed all of it, but performance issues remain.

Processes running are:
Adobe Creative Cloud
Autodesk Desktop App
Discord
Cisco AnyConnect
Nahimic 2 (this COULD be the culprit but I already uninstalled and updated it before)
Steelseries Engine 3
OneDrive
Windows Defender (tried turning it off before, no difference)
Greenshot (not the culprit)
Steam

and more, however, many of these use no more than 1% at most. It's not like I'm hitting 90% CPU usage or something :p

Most of these are for school.

Disabling some stuff (right click -> exit on tray icons) allows me to get anywhere between 180-250 fps on dust2 which at this point sounds acceptable.

You can try prioritizing csgo in task manager, just don't set it too high.

180 to 250 fps sounds what you are suppose to get.
I honestly think you should go to task manager and disable all startup programs. You can always just open it when you need it.

Specs?
Make sure you are using high performance energy settings
Make sure your laptop isn't overheating
Make sure your laptop is actually using it's dedicated graphic card for cs go.

could anyone help me? I get 250 fps on all maps, no matter my settings. ive tried like everything lol. ryzen 1700 gtx 1070 8gm ram ssd

I know it's random but if you have discord open close it in task manager, then open csgo, then open discord again. idk why but it tanks my frames if Discord is open first (most of the time anyway)
