Connecting to the wrong region. [Solved]
I am being connected to servers in another region.

Matchmaking keeps connecting me to servers in Europe. I am located in the U.S. and usually get under 15 ping, but for some reason I am now connecting to servers where I have 180 ping and I am stuck connecting to that region.

I tried connecting with friends in the U.S., but the game thinks I am in another region, so matchmaking will not connect to a server while I am in the lobby.

This problem makes no sense. I have tried changing my download region, and set my max ping to 50 and either I can't connect to a server or it connects after a long time and I get 180 ping playing against europeans.

Does anyone know what is the cause of this problem or how to fix it without using a 3rd party tool?

For anyone having a similiar problem I may have discovered a possible solution if you are using a router, although I am not familiar with networking enough to explain why it may fix the problem.

Here is what I did to fix the problem.

Unplug the Router and connect your Modem directly to your PC.

Launch CSGO while only connected to the modem and join a non comp server. If your ping is back to normal, exit the server and leave CSGO open.

Reconnect the router and modem and connect to a CSGO server when it lets you. It sometimes takes a while to resolve your internet connection.

If that doesn't work, try doing it like this.

Unplug the Router and connect your modem directly to your PC.

Deactivate Steam Cloud sync for CSGO, incase any problem setting is stored in there. Launch game and exit to clear the cloud data.

Change download region setting and back again. Make sure it is close to your location.

Clear Download Cache in the Steam settings.

Delete the userdata folders for the problem account incase any problem setting is stored in there. You can delete all the data and it should be redownloaded when you relaunch the game.

Launch CSGO while only connected to the modem and join a non comp server. If your ping is back to normal, exit the server and leave CSGO open.

Reconnect the router and modem and connect to a CSGO server when it lets you. It sometimes takes a while to resolve your internet connection.

This is happening to me and valve's reply was "there is nothing we can do."
Absolutely useless

This file contains all Valve servers used for matches:
https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/apps/sdr/network_config.json

Block the IPv4 you don't want to connect to in your firewall.
Have fun.

there is no tool for that but what i have noticed is if your friend list or friend are from the other region then you will get that server, I am from India but i have some friends from uae and after playing 10 20 compy matches with them i only get uae server unless i set max ping to 60 , i dont have any solution but i noticed this.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
