What does the star mean in front of people's names?

I've seen many people put a star in front of their name, any idea what that means or is it for cosmetic use?

When you reach lvl 40 you can get a medal. Thats the star.

I think he means the star symbol in front of people's names, not the medals. It's just cosmetics and you can do it too, but makes you look like a typical noob-ish or a hacker-ish looking guy.

Most guys I've encountered with that symbol are either ♥♥♥♥ or hacking. Just saying.

This came from ESEA, where everybody who paid for insider has it in front of his name~

And since most pros play ESEA, people think it's cool and copy blindly everything they do.

It's like putting -iwnl-, SAIYAJIN, dA-k1ng etc. after your name but more ret@rded.

Many pros do it but the star makes you look like gold nova so dont.
