Why does the Lurk role get a lot of controversy?

I'm not a lurker myself, but people who do it are being helpful (if done right), catching people off guard.

Not necissarily. Take mirage for example, on A site: 4 terrorists go hit A and I lurk underpass. This is a great place to be because of someone tries to rotate to connector I can kill them. Even if no one comes I can sneak up on anyone in jungle or stairs etc.

you and him described 2 different situations: he planted a and was covering on a side. you planted a yet you were covering from b side.


and did your team run through underpass to get to a?

Well he was generalizing lurking as always staying on the opposite side of the map. Anyways, yes. The other terrorists would be going through palace and A main (ramp).

Lurking is pretty much just trying to cut off your opponent's rotation.

I'm a IGL, entry fragger, and rifler. My main role is to bark orders and make the team win. I do this really effectivly and if your in a gamed with me you can find out. I assign certain roles to certain players.

Recently, i assigned lurk alot more as it is effective IF your not getting a random kill.

For example: An AWPer does the lerk's job. Get a kill but he can hide in a corner and wait while scoped. So its effective to have a person with a rifle do that.

To be a good lurker you need to have the team backs so that the guy wont come behind from that angle. As if you take one guy out and your the oppisit side of the map then your just dead aswell as they know your there so there going to go a diffrent route.

Now carrying this infomation think of how many times your've died from a lurker. Did it make them win? Was it a 5v1 ? Well noramly if your not in a 5/4 man lurking does cause a riot beacuse you wernt helping in the round when they all die and are looking at you.

So basicly if you soloque then your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ if you like lurking but if you in a team then its importent but again can cause a riot.

Personaly, i think that an AWPer is much more effective as he can get a opening kill inless on the CT side were a lurker has to not be assigned to lurk but they have to have the opttion and positition too.

I think the biggest issue I've noticed is if someone lurks and does it stupidly, gets overly aggressive, pushes, then dies, you really accomplished nothing. Also, when the lurker comes in to flank and takes the literal longest route possible and ends up there way after the push is fallen to pieces, you look like an idiot.

I've also noticed people in my matches confuse lurking with watching flank or holding map control.
