Why do some pistols one shot headshot while both M4's don't.

The following pistols can kill someone with one shot to the head at a close distance:
- P250
- Tec 9, FN 5-7, and CZ75
- Desert Eagle and the R8 (Both being .50AE, I'm not worried about theses weapons.)

Whilst the M4a1-s and M4a4 take two shots in order to kill someone at the same range.

Now, why is this? In theory, the M4's both being of the 5.56 family would one shot kill someone as ballistic helmets are suppose to protect against shrapnel and richochet, not straight up bullets, especially one of that high of a calibre. Now speaking of 9mm's and 5.7 rounds, which are way smaller than the said caliber. Why would the smaller bullet be more effective at a one shot stand point.

So why is this a thing, my guess would be for balancing.

Balancing. P250s, Tec-9s and Five Sevens are semi-automatic, so they don't have an LMB spray. You need to be accurate to get frags with them. CZ75 has poor ammo economy and money reward, so even if it grabs easy kills, it's not very useful. The M4s are fully-automatic, so they can be sprayed/burst with, so doing a two-to-five burst to the head is pretty easy. The reason the AK has the one-tap is that the Terrorists are on the offensive. This allows them to counter defending players provided they're fast enough.

Accurate with a tec-9? All I see is people firing it as fast as they can. That's shocking to me.

tec/five-seven/p250 at a certain range all can one shot to the head even against armor, something the m4's can't do. that's the point of the post :)

Silver is where it happens the most. Less in Gold, but it still happens. My counter is smoking B, standing behind the box at back plat, and waiting patiently for the rush, I say B because doing a Tec-9 spam anywhere else is stupid, since lol long range.

Um... everyone from Silvers to Olafmeister does this. I'm sure everyone has gotten an incredible BS headshot with the Tec-9 that they know they shouldn't have had. Tec-9 is still the most broken weapon in the game.

You obviously have no idea how guns and bullets work. By your logic, the AK47 bullets are 7.62mm in diamter, which is still smaller than 9mm, so Glock > AK47.

Pistols are one shot kills cuz the designers made it that way. Most people agree it's dumb, but we gotta live with it since Valve loves to see eco wins when people force up pistols and win rounds.

Almost never happens. My seat in back plat is so perfect. Only head is visible, and you have to aim at that tiny pixel to get the kill. With the smokes up, there is almost no way to counter. I've only been beaten by those smart people who buy armor instead of a Tec-9 and go for that helmetless Glock 1-tap.

You know that's not the reason. I know you know. I know you know I know. The tec-9, glock, and dualies all use 9mm. The p90 and the five-seven share the same caliber being 5.7x28mm
