Gold nova 3 in 23 wins?
I am not familiar with CS;GO or anything, recently started playing this game 3 days ago (I used to play sometimes some time ago but due to cheap laptop (30fps) I quit). I bought a new PC and started playing again; As of now I am at 23 competitive wins and Gold nova 3, I was Gold nova 2 at 19 competitive wins. Is this decent/good? And how does this ranking system work? I would like to rank up some more as right now I find it too easy (I don't want to be offensive, just my experience so far)

Average gold nova 3 means you're average or a little better.

Your rank gets determined in the beginning by your seeding games. Back then when i did them i had to play 10 games and then i got my rank.
Depending on how you perform(how much kills, defuses, bomb plants, etc), the higher "elo" you get.
I got ranked into Master Guardian 1 after my seeding games, Gold Nova is average, neither good or bad.

What about the rate of ranking up? As of now it is going rapidly, from gold nova 2 to 3 in 3 wins. ( I started out as Gold nova 2, lost my rank due to inactivity, started playing again, got silver master, after like 6 wins Gold Nova 3.

I'm not sure how it works but if you are gold nova 3 that is pretty good

Well, I feel even more embarrassed than usual being at 325 wins and still GN2...

How long would it take for someone to get to know maps, timings etc. properly? Also I still have some difficulties to control the spray at longer range (I suppose practice is required for this) thus the kills I get are either close range and HS's

Would you happen to know if it'll continue ranking at this rate or will it eventually slow down?

It usually slows down as you progress, 3 wins for a rank up is pretty quick.

We'll see I started at silver elite but I made a new account I then got mg1 now I'm le (was Lem deranked due to hacker) it took me about 3 months to get this it's gonna take the time because it takes longer to improve skill.

I see thanks! I suppose I'll see myself how far I can get.

Mhm, I see. I'll just continue playing and see how it works. As of now I am not familiar with a lot of maps, for some reason I always get dust_2 out of the maps I selected..

I'm pretty sure this thread just reiterated to me I should quit CS and find something else to play.

In your defence, I have some experience in FPS games, Started playing A.V.A 7 months ago, after learning the game a bit I got picked up by a competitive team (top 5 or so clan, A.V.A is dead nowadays so not that special) got selected for the main line up and ended up 2x 2nd place, and 1x 1st place in monthly ESL cups 5on5 demolition. I want to give CSGO a try, perhaps in the future try competitive, who knows. I've seen competitive A.V.A players doing great in CSGO.

But anyways, if you play the game for fun, you should not find something else to play, as long as you enjoy the game right?

I mean, I'm 27, played CSS and MOHAA all the time back in the day, then around 06 got away from gaming for about the last 10 years and just started again a few months ago.

800 hours later and I'm still trash though.

Well tbh, if you don't want to play competitive isn't having fun the most important? If you enjoy the game there shouldn't be any reason to quit. You could try some things though, to improve yourself such as lowering sensitivity to make aim more accurate, watching pro demos and analyze them to get more smarter in the game, learning nade spots. I learned that nades are very important in CSGO. I actually find the spray control and getting to know the map/timings the most difficult.
