CSGO Muffled Audio. SOS
I've gone through every CSGO forum I can find through Google regarding this issue, but the solutions either did not work or did not apply to my computer.

There were 2 discussions with the exact same issues I am experiencing

http://steamcommunity.com/app/730/discussions/0/360670708788450014/

This one was a little less specific but in general it's similar

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=36228510

Both of these threads were not properly answered, which leads me to attempting to reopen it. I have a toshiba satellite (dunno exact model) that uses conexant instead of Realtek.

Here's what I've tried:
-Updating sound drivers
-Going into playback devices-->"do nothing" option
-Disabling enhancements found through other applications (not sure if I found all of them)
-Fiddling with sound options ingame (headphones, 2 speakers, 4 speakers, etc)
-Playback devices-->highest sound setting

A few things to note: The audio only muffles when playing CSGO. The only other game I had muffled audio problems with was Overwatch, but I fixed it by disabling the automatic voice channel join. So my best guess would be that it has something to do with CSGO's voice chat and it's possible influence on the game sounds. Keep in mind that I've already set the option to "Do Nothing" when voice is detected. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry for long post

EDIT: I forgot to mention this problem only exists with headphones. Now normally you'd think something is wrong with the headphones/jack, but like I said it only acts up with CSGO, everything else is fine

EDIT 2: It was fine before I shut down my computer to install updates. I still experienced the same problems, but I was able to solve it with one of the above solutions, I can't remember which.

Turn off steam, rename your userdata folder from (steam-> userdata) to "backup userdata"

Turn on steam, go ingame, make all the settings again, tell us if it worked.

I'll have to try that later since it's really late

Any more suggestions will be appreciated. I'll try them all and report which one helps

So i actually did find a solution that I did not find in other posts.

Turns out I was looking in the wrong place for enhancements. It wasn't the speakers' fault, it was the microphone's. I disabled enhancements for recording devices (I was troubleshooting a different problem) and what do you know, everything is hunky dory.

How did you disable the enhancements? I have this same problem for DBD, and same laptop.

Right click sound->Recording devices->Microphone->properties->enhancement i believe? There should be a disable option. I can't check right now because since that time, I've switched laptops. Hope this helps

I clicked on microphone properties and there is no enhancement... This muffled sound only happends when I put my heaphone jack into pc and not into speakers...

Does the PC you use have a built in microphone? And also have you tried using the initial post's solutions? Fiddling with the microphone solved the problem for me, but the initial post is the most common solution
FINALLY thanks for this thread im bookmarking this
