max acceptable game traffic bandwidth

Can someone explain to me why this option even exist?

It was added with graffiti update according to reddit and it seems to me that when i put it on unlimited my game lags, and when i set 1,5 MB/s it's kinda ok.

What this option does? Why it was implemented? Why i cant play on unlimited when i have 10 MB/s internet?

Then you have your answer... Games use upload AND download, so the 1.5mbps limit is just right for your connection. When you set the limit to unlimited the server thinks "Oh, so I can send this guy more info per second" and you connection isn't allowing this...

okay but why is mine set to 748kb i think and i have download 65mb/s and upload 20mb/s according to speedtest.net??

i know this is almost old post but i have 200/100 and any setting i put game sucks before this was implemented in game all was fine "perfect" now sucks freezing and lagging as ♥♥♥♥ wtf

Can anyone chime in and answer me why when I start CSGO I have to go change this setting everytime from Extremely restricted to unrestricted (I have 300/100Mbps Fiber)? It's just annoying if I forget to change it. It's laggy like a 56k with 300-500ping (good old days lol)

When you change to unlimited:
Open console > type rate (it should tell you the numbers next) (example: rate 792712) > copy the numbers > close the csgo > Steam Library > Right click CSGO > Set launch options > Type +rate (numbers) (Example: +rate 732000) > OK > Play run csgo

(It will force to start in unlimited mode... also rate command was always in game.. VALVe added it in game menu when they changed values... earlier max rate was 128000 now it's around 700000

16 Megabits a second is 2Megabytes a second, so if you have around 15-20mbs on a speed test ect you would want to put it as 2mbs or lower

Ye but the game asks for Megabit not Megabyte. When you talk about transimition it's always about sending bits. So it is Megabit

I don't know who to talk to about this, but my game is CONSTANTLY lagging out of nowhere. Random lag spikes. Does max acceptable game traffic bandwidth help with that, or?

Some of you are mixing Mbps with MBs. Megabits with Megabytes.

My connection is a 24/2 (24Mbps cap) which means it can DOWNLOAD 2.4MB/s. which means my connection can only use a MAX rate of around 198000.

This setting is tied to "RATE" setting ingame. Default rate is 196000 or around it, which means its defaulted to the 1.5Mbps setting.

NEVER let csgo use your whole internet, or more than the internet connection its capable of using. You will not see any lag yourself at max setting, but you WILL miss more shots since the server cant keep you fully updated on client pos.

4.14MB download speed IS 400kb/ps. Remember, download speed is NOT the same as actual download speed. 4.14 Download speed is in Megabits. Download rate (ingame and when downloading stuff) is shown in Megabytes.
