On June 12, the real author of the image used in the Howling Dawn skin and sticker filed a copyright lawsuit. “I did not upload items to the Steam Workshop, and the invertebrate worm that did this did not receive any permission from me,” the artist was beside himself after learning about the theft of his creation.

The developers understood that it was impossible to leave the skin in CS:GO, but at the same time it would be wrong to completely remove it from the game, because many people paid to buy this weapon. It was decided to change the design of the rifle: the original Howl skin was removed from CS:GO and from the Hunting Case, and in the players' inventories it was replaced with an updated version of the gun with a picture that did not violate copyrights. There were no more claims from the author of the illustration.
