Is 5%-20% cpu usage normal?

So hello, i just realized that my csgo is using really really low of my cpu i realized it because i was having really low fps. Would you guys be kind enough to help me? I just really want to play

well what kind of specs do you have ? its really hard to help someone who can tell us the specs..maybe its a potato pc from 2000 then it would be alright

Yes, it is.
The Source Engine can't use modern multicore CPUs properly.
You need to get a CPU with better perfomance per single core if you want better FPS in CSGO.

Youre gpu limited if your cpu is only at 10-20%. Also your cpu will be limiting if you upgrade your gpu. My cpu usage is around 40-50% when playing csgo

You don't have to do anything.
The game already uses your CPU the best it can to do.

Yes, it is really bad.

The only thing I can suggest for you is to try

+mat_queue_mode 2

In your launch settings. Check if it makes the difference.

Anyway, you have to upgrade your whole PC.

higher fps = higher cpu usage, since your gpu isnt fast enough to pump out high fps your cpu usage will be relatively low

Your CPU means you have also Motherboard and RAM outdated.
You have to buy new Motherborad, CPU, RAM, and probably PSU, depends on your old one and new configuration.
You can upgrade your GPU later if your budget is limited.

If its a good gpu, its normal. Source engine games dont touch the GPU at all.

i have ~ 15% on the highest settings and that is normal on the higher end pc's

if you have some strange old build, you could have 100%. New cpu / gpu will never reach 30%-40% on cs: go

People are so misinformed by how the cpu usage works on csgo. The game can use high cpu usage if your fps is high. It uses 4 cores fully and maybe some of the remaining cores but your cpu usage can still be high and seeming majority of gpus can get high fps in this game you are more likely to be cpu limited then gpu limited

but i think i still need an upgrade my gpu and cpu are very different
