"dxsetup.exe - file corrupted"
I tried launching csgo after todays patch, when I got a notification saying the following:
dxsetup.exe - file corrupted
The file or directory C:\Windows\assembly\GAC\Microsoft.DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback\1.0.2902.0__31bf3856ad364e35 is corrupted and not readable. Execute CHKDSK.
My question is: What did the update do to my laptop and should I be worried?

Run a Scan disk (CHKDSK) If it says everything is ok then run DXDiag as Admin and check each Tab for errors. It will display them at the bottom of the window.

Then download the Direct X setup from Windows website. Close Steam and run the setup as Admin. Launch Steam and try again.

I just ran CHKDSK and apparently it is "read-only" without actually being set to read only.... This is both concerning and confusing me... It did find errors though but can't do anything while being in read-only...

Yes, I just checked Dxdiag and according to it, no problems have been found, which is quite odd.

Did you try run a system file check at all?

I'm sorry, I don't think I did. You see, I am not very experienced with computers I'm afraid ^^'

To run the System File Checker in Windows 10/8/7, type CMD in the search box. In the result, which appears, right click on the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator.' In the CMD window which opens, type sfc /scannow and hit ENTER. Then restart.

For Windows 10

Does the sfc have to be included with the /scannow?

Okay, so I ran the command and it seems that no problems have been found...

Can you try go into the cs:go folder and look for this folder "directx_installer" scroll down and run the Setup as Admin.
Also run the csgo.exe as Admin while your at it.

Yeaah.... About that, I am afraid I currently cannot do this, since I uninstalled csgo out of fear before I started this discussion... Not this smartest move, I know, but I was a little anxious so yeah... Currently reinstalling, will try everything later again ^^'

Cool.

Alright, so I ran the systemscan again, still no problems found.
I also tried running the Setup as admin, which did not work.
Neither did running csgo.exe as an admin work
