What was the point of buffing AWP zoom & crouch from CS 1.6?
Many years ago I was a CS 1.6 semi-pro player. Now I decided to finally give CS:GO a good try.
There are many good things that made me even "wow!" at times, but looking deeply inside I noticed how they buffed hell of a crouching. You can actually move around in crouch and shoot and it will be almost same precision as if you just duck.

As a guy who had army service and shot guns I can assure you that this is not realistic. Besides being non realistic it encouraged chicken play and in some way reduced the skill level of the game. At start when I seen people crouch around and shooting I was like "wtf, are those newbies or something".. and then I realized...

Together with that there's huge buff to AWP crouch+scope+shoot. It wasn't possible to make it within 0.3 seconds to do these 3 things together and still get a perfect shot. Currently I see many players on faceit matchmaking either using binds for that combo or just used to do it. I'm trying to see the reason behind this buff, AWP was really strong in CS 1.6 already but it was on par with other weapons. Currently the way I see it it is really over performing.

It was so much skill required back then when you had to move with awp, stop and shoot same second and keep on the move again. Right now it's all gone, just bind a button for duck+scope+shoot and you don't even have to care about pressing it while moving.

models move a lot slower and are a lot bigger in csgo compared to 1.6.
that allows much deeper teamplay and movement mechanics.

the awp cant be judged in matchmaking, but in actual team games.

the lower the rank, the stronger the awp. -especially since nobody knows what a refrag is xd

1.6 is much more about fragging, csgo is much more about team movements.

basicly it has been buffed in things of shooting, but nerved overall due to counter movements. compared to 1.6

Maybe you should stop playing CS:GO then ? If the first thing you did after trying it is come here and cry about AWP, then you should definitely uninstall.

its a normal question, 1.6 has some things that differ from csgo.
just one example: csgo has peekers advantage, while 1.6 has not.
csgo doesnt peek into small gaps but more go for intervalls, 1.6 does.

Yes actually this seems to be it. Not first time I'm trying CS:GO and uninstalling it. This time tho I see that they are really getting there but hell, the encouragement of camping brought this game to really bad place in terms of fast paced action. It became all about catch a spot, camp, crouch, stay silent.. In times of CS 1.6 rise it was balanced better in terms of chicken play vs fast action paced combat.

Im not even gonna waste time trying to argue with a stubborn person like you.

This post proves you don't know what Counter-Strike is.

Have a nice one. Maybe try Red Orchestra 2 or Arma 3, I bet you will find the realism you are looking for in there.

I agree with you that this game is too AWP-oriented. And yes it takes less skill to operate an AWP than a regular assault rifle. Because of that you see often that 40%-80% of your squad uses an an AWP, where it should be no more than 20% (I doubt that any CT unit in the world has more than 20% of snipers) I suspect that the community of this game will come here and say bs like "use somkes", etc, but how to use a smoke, when the AWP is the favourite CQB weapon in this game? (not realistic at all) Most frags using an AWP takes place within 15 metres range - that's obviously ridiculous. I am a supporter of nerfing (balancing) this weapon. I think that adding a delicate sway could solve the problem and make this a skill weapon (why sway? Because it's a heavy weapon and in CS you are not allowed to use bipod to stabilise view). For all of these reasons we mentioned AWP negates usage of other weapons, because of that I even call this game CQB Sniping: Global Offensive.

I don't require games to be fully realistic as well as I don't want them to be fully unrealistic.
If they are semi-realistic - that's fine. You say that it's e-sport, then why the AWP is so easy to operate? (And yes I played a game where snipers had it's place - it was very powerful at range, but very poor in the CQB - the problem of using it in CQB didn't exist - unlike in cs go)

As I said AWP was really strong in 1.6 already, on some maps like de_aztec it was already overperforming in its old state. In current game it's just overpowered rail gun. While with other weapons you still have element of RNG with AWP you can be sure in every shot you land.

I am saying this also as a newbie CS:GO player, with awp I'm performing on the different level from other guns. There were even comments in one game like "what did you switch cheats on?". No it's just the weapon is OP together with buffed crouch

True.

Yeah I agree. I can play constantly an AWP with better results, but I don't want to, because this is not what this game should be about.
