Karma Handicap Challenge Mode

Just an idea. I've messed with "autohandicaps" or regular, manual handicaps in various multiplayer games (against bots or humans) and actually started to like the idea of increasing my handicap as a challenge. With autohandicaps, it changes automatically as you constantly play and in the ones that announce what level of handicap you're at it can be an exciting achievement.

I honestly feel like handicaps are a bit like choosing difficulties or later levels in singleplayer challenge modes for different games. Usually in those modes you're facing dumb A.I. and the challenge comes from cheat tactics such as more enemies or enemies having higher health or doing more damage. In strategy games they might get extra resources too. Yet it can be VERY satisfying to defeat your singleplayer A.I. opponents this way. Which brings me to human players.

Nothing against terrible human players, but until you know a game well you're probably not gonna act much smarter than the typical singleplayer A.I. So what about a "handicap" or "karma" mode where it's either a duel (between a low-level and high-level player) or maybe multiple low-level players vs one high-level player. It would be a "survive as long as you can" mode for the high-level player as the waves/tactics/attacks from the low-level player(s) get increasingly powerful. It could also be a chance for low-level players to "get their revenge" since the mode is focused on becoming increasingly difficult until the high-level player dies. It could be great fun.

I just thought of this idea as a separate mode from playing against bots with autohandicap mods and difficulty choices in different games. I had a ton of fun trying to push what is essentially a handicap as high as it could go just as a challenge.

tl;dr - gradually increasing handicap for low level player(s) vs a high level player in a "survive as long as you can" mode. (hard to explain in short)


Be nice but also honest. It was just an idea.
