One bullet to get one down, providing you with lotsa bullets to compensate for mistakes.. Hella strong, if well positioned.
Its strong if you know how to tap with it, never fire full automatic, for that is Negev.
In CSS it was my favorite gun, but it was nerfed a lot in CS GO, still its usable, but not great, not trash.
If we compare m249 to the rifles, then, yeah it's pretty powerful, but do you really want to pay extra 2k$ for +70 bullets in the magazine? As a T you would take AK as a cheaper and better option, and as a CT if you want the one shot potential on close ranges, just take the AUG, so in my opinion m249 price should be lowered significantly.
The latter games basically just copy weapon list from it. (with exception of Tactical Shield)
pretty sure it exists because people do use it a lot in like custom lobbies, especially zombie mode
Also its a lazer, literally. IF you know how the spray pattern works, you can beam people across the map with that gun
