Keeping fov at 68
Is there a way to make it to where i dont have to go into the console to change the fov everytime?

you need to set viewmodel_presetpos to some non existing value (999 or something), else you end up with the presets fov.

Into console once, and it gets written to your config.cfg file:
viewmodel_presetpos "999";viewmodel_fov "999";host_writeconfig

If it doesn't stick after a new start you should store it into an file called autoexec.cfg in folder:
Steam\userdata\<AccountID3>\730\local\cfg\

I believe you can make an autoexec config and put 'viewmodel_fov 68' in the file.

It's been awhile since I've done an autoexec, but I think I remember how to do it.
Go to c:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg
and make a new txt file named 'autoexec.cfg'. Then edit the file with the commands you want and put 'host_writeconfig' at the end.

is it possible to just do a launch setting or do i have to do that?

if it doesn't stay, you have to put it in autoexec.cfg (not config.cfg)

also by default you don't have an autoexec.cfg

So it could but it may not stay? If im understanding that right, what do i do to try and set it as a launch setting? Do i just type viewmodel_fov 68 into the box?

Launch settings have nothing to do with config settings (those editable by console commands). Some don't stay in config.cfg (this is your actual config file that stores your ingame settings) because they don't get written there, so you have to add them to autoexec.cfg to be executed every time you open the game.

I do not believe you can put config settings in the launch options. The only launch option I know that could help in this situation is '+exec autoexec.cfg'. Although that launch option has the same function as putting 'host_writeconfig' at the end of the cfg file if I recall.

Oh ok, can you give me some instructions on how to make the file? Also how should i write the command? viewmodel_fov 68 host_writeconfig?

It is not up to date, config.cfg has been moved somewhere and the updated video is unavailable
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

You can, indicated by a + sign (+cl_showfps for example) (a - sign is for engine commands; ex. -novid). But, there is a character limit in the launch options text field. Hence autoexec.cfg.

Man, im way to stupid for this kind of stuff. Anyways, Erik, I copy pasted what you said to type into the console and it seems to have worked! Fov stayed the same after quitting and reopening the game! Thanks a lot to everyone in this post for their help!
