Dear valve. How you created a cheat developer out of a legit kid.
It's funny how things go these days. A couple of years ago, someone very close to me was banned falsely by overwatch.

He never cheated before that day, he practiced hard and was at the time of his ban, global and beginning to rise above 2.2k elo on faceit.

After being banned, all his dreams of going pro, were torn asunder. He spent months contacting support, only to meet the standard: "Bans are non-negotiable" auto reply.

After reaching a wall for months on end, he decided: "if they're going to call me a cheater, I'm going to become a cheater."

He was 13 at the time. Having already learned C#, C++ amongst a few others, due to his love for World of Warcraft emulation, he began breaking your game down. He showed me how easy it was to circumvent anti-cheat, by flooring and clamping certain values, avoiding certain addresses, and writing and obfuscating your own functions, basically a bunch of jargon that I don't understand.

After a month, his first cheat was ready. And then, he left your game. Having broken you down into pieces of code that was a "laughable protection" he said.

Today, he works for a company, doing programming, he has plans to buy his first car soon, as he's about to turn 19.

TLDR:

13 year old kid gets overwatch banned falsely, decides to code own cheat, goes on to become a successful programmer.

Edit:
He's now a full stack developer. Someone mentioned his school life, i'll keep most of that private, but i can say, he didn't attend school much, no friends there and constant fights + parents that were abusive. Breeding ground for an introverted person.

He didn't sell his cheat, he wasn't in it to make money, he wanted to prove he could do it.

For those of you who are saying he cheated before his ban:
No. He wasn't using alt accounts.
When he plays just as good on lan as he does online, there's no doubt.
Yes overwatch DID make a mistake and has done so before.

Even now cheaters have been exploiting the way overwatch works to their advantages.
Did you read about the recent overwatch botting scandal? It's just the tip of the iceberg.

From valves own site:
"No. Overwatch bans of any kind cannot be appealed and are not removed at Steam Support. Because bans are only issued when Investigators unanimously agree on a conviction we are confident that applied Overwatch bans should remain. If even one Overwatch Investigator does not agree on a conviction the Suspect will not receive a ban of any kind."

If that's so, then how did professional players recieve griefing bans, even though clearly they werent griefing and at least 1 player would have said no to it. Hmm. Suspicious.

Valve isn't being smart about their anticheat.

Look at the amount of spinbotters we get in overwatch, they should be autobanned, not put in an overwatch pool.

And then there's the whole fake reputation of VAC, overwatch bans turns into VAC bans, as a way for valve to pat themselves on the back with a fake vac ban, even though overwatch caught it and vac did nothing.

If he always talked about cheats and programming it is suspicious. :erune:
Maybe he has alt account that cheats and boost his main account. Valve probably set some trap and his main account was banned as well.
Valve wasn't smart back then, just like they ain't smart now. /shrug

I dont think someone who doesnt even understand how the anticheat valve made works is the accurate person to call others stupid

Now he can write cheats for CSGO. The paid (subscription) ones are rarely banned and it's a multi-million dollar industry. It probably makes more than CSGO does

No

LMAO. Funny. You don't get banned ''for nothing''.

this is the best Joker origin story yet
I'm not sure I believe your friend was global elite and knew several coding languages at 13, but if it's true, good for him. He's gonna make a lot of money in his lifetime.

The legit kid, is definitely as legit as i think. I've stood behind him and watched him play several times. Cybercafes, at home, at lan parties. This isn't some "omg i got banned pls unban" thread.
Your friends a Liar, presumably a good one, valve doesnt ban people randomly as they desire

well if youre interested you certainly are able to know several coding languages at age 13. If you have enough time and fun coding, you can start with one language, and learn similar ones every now and then (e.g. C++, Java, and others are similar enough to learn them easily at a beginners level). And if you can code already at 13, you can learn more and go professional if youre old enough.

I'm not saying it's impossible. It's just hard to believe. Pretty rare for a 13 year old to even know what coding is, let alone be into it, know how to do it, and be fluent in several languages. This is on top of the time he'd be spending at school, and practicing to achieve global elite and 2.2k elo on faceit. Just seems unlikely, that's all. If it's true, good for him.
