player count is actually a lot higher than that considering the majority of players are nonsteam/cracked players

Well valve doesnt give a ♥♥♥♥ about cheaters so in that aspect its dead. CSGO is a great game but the community is pure salt and cancer not mentioning the cheaters even in green trust factor.

To play with friends on lan parties. CS 1.6 runs on even older hardware than CSGO, and back when CSGO was not free2play, cracked (and hence free) versions of CS 1.6 were easy and fast to distribute. Now CSGO is free, but you still need an internet connection and some space to download it. CS 1.6 is only a few GB, and you can install it from a USB stick on 10 computers within an hour.

"if" this game dies its because of cheating ,"private" gameplay like u mention prevents csgo from dying
