Average rent in USA $1230? You can rent luxury appartements for $288 in China (4 bedrooms, 303 m²)?
Outside of tier 1 cities, most Chinese live on $1,000-1,500 (dual income) a month. I live near the American border in Canada and houses here are $200k or $700-1500 mortgage payments (monthly), people here earn $80-130k per family (dual income). It's much cheaper to live in America/Canada if you count the higher income and cheap cost of land
