High fps but game doesn't feel smooth
This is a complicated issue:

It's been a thousand years since I've played CS:GO for the last time. Thanks to a few friends I decided to give it a try again and the game is supposed to run perfectly on my pc (it used to run perfectly on my old rig) but for some unkown reason the game isn't feeling smooth at all :steamsad:

My old pc:

MSi Z97 Gaming 7
Intel i7 4790k running on stock
2x8 G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 mhz
Gigabyte GTX 1060 6G
1 HDD 5400 RPM
1 Sandisk SSD
21,5 Samsung 60hz monitor

My new pc:

Asus ROG Strix B450 F Gaming
Ryzen 7 2700x OC 4.2 Ghz
2x8 G.Skill Trident Z 3000 Mhz
MSi Armor RTX 2070 8G
1 TB HDD 7200 rpm
1 480 gb Adata SSD (on which the game is currently installed)
1 m.2 Nvme Spectrix S40G
29 Ultrawide LG 75hz monitor

I play games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Battiefield V perfectly at 75 fps (locked using RTSS) and they run smooth.
But with CS:GO there's this awkward feeling, like the game is stuttering or something.

I went to the game propreties and set the game launch options as: "-refresh 75 -height 1080 -width 2560". The resolution changed but that awkard feeling remained. Also the game graphics isn't good at all with a lot of aliasing. The game is always running above 100 fps. I've tried to lock the fps using RTSS but the strange feeling remains. At this point I don't know what do to.

Please, help. :steamfacepalm:

On the Nvidia Control Panel my standard settings are:

- The display's refresh rate is: 75hz
- Gsync is: ON
- FastSync: ON

and like I said, with Call of Duty: Warzone and Battlefield V everything is working perfectly but with CS:GO there's this lack of smoothness despite the frames per second being high.

Personally I wouldnt lock the fps. Try play at the lowest settings possible at native resolution and making sure vsync or any form of fps locking is off and see what fps and how smooth it feels. Otherwise try reset all settings by deleting your config file and possibly reinstall the game. Idk what else you could do.

Also make sure youre on a private server to eliminate any stuttering due to ping.

Why would you spend money on 2700X when 3600 is so cheap and better in games???
Where have you been when you picked that hardware?
What do you want now? You bought a piece of crap motherboard, a piece of crap CPU, a piece of crap RAM (everybody knows CL14 brings noticeably more fps compared to CL15 and CL16), and OMG ROFL - RTX 2070 NOW!!! When NVIDIA just released RTX 3000 which is cheaper on paper and will get cheaper in a couple of months!

Sorry dude I'm really deeply sorry about the money you spent on THAT.

As for your monitor - did you even check its input lag before buying? Are you sure it's fit for gaming? Also do NOT ever lock your fps at your monitor frequency, disable any virtual sync and everything like that. It won't fix your CPUwhich is not designed for gaming but it might make things a bit better.

Again - deeply sorry you wasted your money.

Idiot, he didnt say he just bought the pc. He clearly stated that he last played the game a 'thousand years' ago and that since then hes upgraded his pc (Not recently but probably when the generation was new) and that hes just recently returned to csgo and hes stuttering. He only lists his old specs because years ago when he played the game it ran perfectly fine.

Theres no need to ridicule someone for their specs when its not the 'top end' or new. At the time it would have been the best upgrade from his old system.

His situation is that since he last played the game which was years ago he's upgraded to a significantly faster system and that hes just launched the game and he's experiencing stuttering issues. He didnt just buy the pc smh

That's exactly what happened. The pc I'm using now isn't exactly new and the Ryzen 7 2700x per exemple was brand new when I bought it but anyway, there's no need to answer someone whose input is just to ridiculize someone else. This person is clearly a troll. The way I spend my money is none of his concern so he's definitely not worth answering.
But thanks for your input anyway. Nice to see that people still can read and understand a simple text and are able to help. Can't say the same about this guy.

I did as you said, fps is always above 100 but unfortunitely the lack of smoothness remains =\

I’d lock my fps to slightly less than my minimal fps, using console command
Xepto 2020 年 11 月 25 日 下午 1:19
Try turning OFF shader cache in nvidia control panel for csgo specifically. After that start up the game, open console, type cl_forcepreload 1 and then join a DM server or something to test. If its already on 1 then try on 0 but for me it was 0 by default and turning it to 1 made significant difference.

Mby you play on 60hz and not on 144hz or 240hz

ok

dont lock cs at 75hz then the game tries to cap your fps at this point. this game runs smoother the higher your fps get. i tried to cap it at 144hz so the game tried to keep fps at the same value. try to reach more than 200fps and you are fine you should be able to reach that with your specs
edit: i had weird fps drops while i capped it to 144 hz now i dont do it anymore and get round about 300 +- 50 fps in any map and situation. i use a 144 hz monitor btw
