My experience in competitive when being SEM vs GN1
I got this game a few weeks ago. Loved the game learnt a few maps and got into comp matches. My first rank was SEM, the skill group of people in silver matches is so random, the trolls were many and the smurfs never seemed to be on my side. Almost every single match seemed to be a rush were the team with the most in the rush went on to win the match. I some how managed to get 3-4 wins in a row, then played an extremely hard match which ended in a tie and got ranked up.

From here the game completly changed. In a game of novas, the matches are actually easier. Far easier. Its weird. I can see how people get stuck in silver for so long. Some of the matches I had were insane, eg getting nailed 16 - 1, or there abouts 2-4 games in a row.

I'd actually encourge people to maybe try to get boosted to nova. It has made the game far more enjoyable and full of tactic instead of luck. Simply playing against novas and learning their ways has improved me massively. I've only got 45 comp wins but I'm now 4 wins in a row. Watch me lose today now lulz.

How have other people found the difference?

I agree with you, the higher rank you stay, the more enjoyable the game is. I think it is because the teams perform more as a team instead of as individual based plays.

Yeha, thatsa a huge thing, I've noticed Novas love to co ordinate attacks. SEM and lower just consisted of rushing.

higher rank = less hackers

That's true for everyone and for all ranks.

No, they are not easier. You are experiencing a cognitive bias.

There's literally no difference between SEM and GN1, they are essentially the same rank. You simply have a slightly higher score now.

AIP, Ill have to disagree, the matches have been easier due to better teamwork and a dubbing down on the other team. I'm winning far more matches now than I ever did at SEM. I dont think I've improved much in a few weeks.

Im return to csgo after a year. Play few ranked games. Got GN1 rank. Aaaand like i see match making are not fixed. A lot of kids from low ranks. A lot of trolls. I can easly do 50-5 in game but cant rank up bc we lose anyway

Again, that's just your biased perception talking. Soon you'll start seeing trolls and cheaters everywhere once again.

You'll also most likely derank back to silver a few times. You'll remember this conversation then.

one big difference between gn and silver is that silvers just spray and pray but gold novas actually try and aim.

but at gold nova level not many people have good aim, so it takes longer for them to point their crosshair at you and shoot. also less people buy shotguns and smgs in gold nova, and there is not as much running and gunning

Times have changed. Went from getting battered at Gn1 to top fragging and now Gn2 but im usually around the middle of everyone. Gn2 is much harder and I've noticed I tie a lot more games. Infact out of my last 20 games, 7 have been ties. Dont think ill hit GN3 for a while.

Gn2 is actually much better than GN1 or SEM. People are actually attempting to use tactics from pro games. Been much more fun at this level, but also far more intense.
