A question about reaction time
Is 200 ms enough? (feel free to interpret "enough")

I heard that the average pro reaction time is 200ms. I got that number using ulletical reaction test map and then... using the humanbenchmark site online too...

Was wondering... Because everything else can be trained through practice, but reaction time not so much imo.

Also if I have say 40 ping, does that then mean that my reaction time is 240 ms? (given, 200 ms)

Edit: Unsubbed from discussion.

If you have 40ms of ping your reaction time would be 160ms

I don't know about the last thing but 200 ms reaction time is not that bad. Enough against pro's? Probally not but that dosen't mean you can't kill pro's.. All can have a bad game and a pro with 4 other silvers that pro will not be a pro because he needs his teammates to be "a pro" if the pro not are playing against silvers, gold novas or such ofc.

It doesn't really make sense. The server still knows when you shot via lag compensation, ping doesn't affect when the shot comes out.

250ms is an average person's reaction time. I'd be confident saying 200ms is an average gamer's. If you hit <180, you have great reactions.

Well i did have 187 a few times. So I'm okay I guess.

Well, yea just pre-fire where the enemy is every time. No need for reaction.

If only it were that simple...

Anticipation plays into reaction time.
Fact is crosshair placement and anticipating the movement is more important.
All of our reactions times will be extremely similar so it's not that big of a deal.

If only it were that simple...
- Anticipating a repeek from an AWP.
- Hearing footsteps.
- Consistent jiggle-peeks.
- Knowing the enemy is locked in a specific position.
- General choke point timings.

Anticipating an engagement shaves 25%+ off your reaction time.

No it doesn't. Your reaction time would still be 200ms, but it would take the server 40ms to register so all in all if someone sees an enemy and has a reaction time of 200 ms, it will take a total of 240ms to actually shoot the enemy and have it register. ez maths

To confirm a person's reaction time, you need to do the Scientific method (That thing which nobody knows about), then you can confirm your reaction time. Also an average person's reaction time is about 400 - 450 ms if man and if women 500 - 550 ms. (As latest)

PD: Mine is 156ms :D
