How does "report botting" work?

I have been playing CSGO Recently, and I came across like two guys on the enemy team that say they'd report me / report bot me because they were mad at us for literally reking them, this happened yesterday too. So I am a little bit concerned since I've dumped quite a bit of money onto this account.

I'm curious to how it works, cause I have friends that "apparently" got report botted and banned (maybe they were hacking but I'm not sure).
Does it go through overwatch or does it just get banned because VAC determines that the account has been reported too many times. And can you appeal it if you get banned?

Because I remember when report-botting was a big thing a few years back, and I haven't kept up with the CSGO news so IDK anything.

Report BOT's do not work at all, and haven't for quite some time. A valve employee confirmed this over a year ago.

All the site does is scam people while simultaneously advertising itself by checking for banned accounts and posting their "we banned you'' message on their profile.

Report Bots do work. Idk what the other people are saying but exact similar ♥♥♥♥ as you mentioned in your original post happened with me. Out of sheer anger someone report botted my account and now my Trust Factor is heavily reduced. From that day since 2 weeks, I have played like 6-7 games and all I get are pure blatant hackers with Aimbots, Walls and BHOP scripts. I wrote about this to valve and they did nothing. Just that Customer Support ♥♥♥♥ thing, that we are doing this we are doing that yada yada. They are not responding also now.
I am trying to find a solution now as my 9 y/o acc has got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ due to some kid as he cant be better than me. Easy thing for people to be vengeful.

I would also like to add that may Valve CEO die a painful death in some bushes. Thank you

True, he has a point. A whole team reporting you (even though you have done nothing wrong) might not get you VAC/OW banned, but it can lower your trust-factor, can it not?

It is easy to say for you that you are suspecting me. But you know what? i dont have to reply to kids. Been playing this game since the beginning. Played CS 1.6 before this since 2006. I don't have any reason to ♥♥♥♥ up my 9 yo account. There is nothing like "hint hint". Tell me this. If I had to hack online. Would I purchase a PC worth 1,50,000 Lacs INR that also on loan??? Huh?? I am only grinding because I have a dream to fulfil. I wanted to play in competitive esports. I pay my bills, left home to play and live alone, paying loan to have a decent pc just to hack?

A kid like you having lots of money to play all ♥♥♥♥ games wont understand this. Dont mock me as I am already in too much Pain. I feel I have wasted some precious years of my life over a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game whose developers are just there to bag money and more money but not interested in fixing their own ♥♥♥♥

It definitely does that. Many people have confirmed me over this and when I asked for solution, they said best chances are to Overwatch constantly and gain more XP. Thats the only slightest chance to get out of this. But sadly it is not helping me. I have overwatched like 20 games now. This game is broken. I am in so much rage right now.

If you are genuinely and consistently reported from signficiant numbers of individuals (and their reports are weighted for accuracy*) then your TF will be eventually affected.

This system balances out so that salty anti-competitive types that report anyoine they dislike or is better than them will find their weighting drops since many of those reported will not be so by other more reliable users.
Meanwhile those users that reserve their reporting only for valid cases that are aligned with others reporting of actual disruptive play - exspecially when leading to OW eview and even more if ultimately conviction - will have more reliable reporting, but are not likely to be reporting you for trivial invalid reasons.






*Yes -the same normalisation applies ot user reports as used when those meet the reliabiltiy necessary to participate in OW review - that same wighting is applied to their OW verdict
