Why is my nickname with ******** in CSGO?
Until yesterday, my name was normal (Was appearing CoxinGO), that is Coxinha (A brazilian food) + GO(of CSGO), but today I've opened my game and my name was written with a lot of *****, but when I disable the Text Filtering, my nickname goes back to normal

Hi,
the stars are due to the text filtering which is surely activated in your settings. (Settings -> Game -> Communication -> Text filtering)

CS:GO is rated for 10yrs since the last update, that's why they need to censor Cox, because it sounds like C0cks, apparently. /S :steamhappy:
edit: Test: Just name yourself Cocktail. aha, works at Steam, pretty sure gets **** in CS:GO.

That csgo profanity filter is kinda interesting.

My friend, who is French told me that he muted a purple guy in Enemy Team and it showed up as ****et instead of violet.

And task manager was task ma******

Could it be that this is enforced regionally, based on store location, the language filters might be different?

I don't think so.I'm a Chinese. Both in Chinese sever and worldwide one, some people's name included some dirty words in Chinese, but it didn't show up as *****.That's strange.

you have to dissable the chat filtering some links or long names are detected and convert to ***********

Doesn't change the fact that other people will still see your name as *******

Yeah well, that's clientside. You can choose if you want to see them or not. Same goes for names and avatars ingame.

Yeehees. But it's cl_filtertext_enabled "1" by default. If you don't check your game options thoroughly you won't know what's up.

That's a bit how it goes with the younger generations. Just double-click and go, don't inform oneself and complain if it's different as one expected, not even knowing you can set your own options.

Crap, in Portuguese, "Coxin" is pronounced as Co"she"n

I really don't know what to do, any change in the grammar would impact in my name :(
