VAC and Overwatch has hit the rock bottom.

Yesterday, me and couple of my friends we're playing Scrimmage of the map Breach. We encountered some very high ping issues (way over 1000ms.) and we thought it was some kind of issue with the server, until we discovered that the server would stop lagging when the time was about to run out.

As we we're playing on the Terrorist side, that means the other team gets round win when the time runs out so it raised some suspicion upon the enemy team. Further investigation shows, that one of the enemy players has over 36 pages of comments, that accuses him cheating and using lag exploits, servercrashers etc.

After accusing the player of cheating, he responded with a toxic answer and obviously we got reaaally salty right after that. Bunch of trash talking later, he said that we should "enjoy our griefing bans". Thought it was just some kind of false threat. And oh boy, I was wrong.

When the match was 0-15, we got to play as Counter-terrorists. What a miracle that the server would not lag now, until the suspect would try to plant the bomb. It couldn't have been more obvious. We lost the game and moved on.

Today, three of us has received bans for griefing by Overwatch. How is it possible to get a ban for griefing, when all of us kept reconnecting to the server after getting disconnected for losing connection, and we all tried to play even though it was impossible? Most of their team just kept spinning, AFK in their spawn, expect for the suspect and one player. We did not shoot each other or intentionally ruin the game, we just kept disconnecting and warping around the map.

In a game like Counter-Strike, with bunch of anti-cheat protections and large community, how in the f*ck is this even possible? We have all paid money for this game, and this is the kind of sh*t that legit players receive for playing the game.

I'm not requesting to get my Overwatch ban lifted, but the thing that angers me the most is that one of us has just bought the game, has under 20 hours played and he is unranked. Now he has been banned. Is this really the image you want to give to the new players or the older, legit community?

Definitely agree, even though I got banned for the "same reason". I can't stand trolling or griefing, but in this case it was the enemy team's one player with lag exploits.

You seem to know what game got you banned how?

Ain't it quite obvious? If you add up everything (including everybody who got banned played the same match, I trash talked and the suspect said that we will get griefing bans), it does make sense to me.

I think I would know if I would have seriously abused in-game rules on other matches.

Is that lag exploit actually a thing tho? Cuz that would explain why I get weird lags against fishy players on very rare occasions...
