I have no sound in CS:GO- tried everything I know.
YES, MY GAME AND OTHER SOUND IS SET TO ON. Half Life 1&2 both have sound as does everything else. Immediately after update about 2 months ago, sound broke and has not improved.
Tried:
-Confirming windows sound settings
-Confirming game sound settings
-Verify game files
-Re-installed (multiple times)
-Moving to/from C:/ drive
-Disabled motherboard sound (using sound card)
-Disabled sound card (using motherboard sound)
-Checked for graphics card driver updates
-Contacted Steam Support, did everything on their fix list
-Manually set all values in console

Windows 7 64 fully updated, Audigy FX 5.1 surround from Creative sound card.
Asrock motherboard, 16gb ram, 960 2gb.

Steam support was of no help. I imagine Valve did this while trying to port a bit of the game to Source 2 or whatever. Any fixes?

PLEASE BUMP. This is a more valid, higher effort thread than the "OMG why I get cooldownn?!?!?" , "wtf I was not hacking why I get VAC?!? unban!!!", "I wuz not hacking, only overwatch ban!! Overwatch is just♥♥♥♥♥♥at the game and doesn't recognize skill!"

Not exactly, but I've hit "Restore to Defaults" quite a few times as well as re-installing the game. I will attempt now.
Looked in \csgo\cfg, saw only config.360.cfg and neither of the others.
Went to \730\local\cfg, renamed folder.
CS crashed next time I tried to open it, then opened with still no sound.

Supplement:
1: Occasionally CS asks me for one-time setup of Microsoft Dx11, which never helps.
2: Microphone Setup test volume (Which is via steam itself, I imagine) plays sound fine.

Will run Dx Diagnostic now. Any idea what a code noob might see as a problem?

Yeah because I am a computer illiterate ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and definitely didn't state that I already checked that in the OP.

It looks like you are running very old audio drivers. Try updating those.
I checked their site and it doesn't appear there are any newer.
It was an update of CS that turned it off, not a hardware change.

Doing this got me more interesting results in console after the server rebooted.

"Executing listen server config file
CSoundEmitterSystemBase::GetParametersForSound: No such sound Error "

"No pure server whitelist. sv_pure = 0
Unable to initialize DirectSoundCapture. You won't be able to speak to other players.SignalXWriteOpportunity(3)
PutClientInServer: no info_player_start on level
No game sound connected.
Unknown command: cameraman_request "

Yes, I did, and I quoted below. Sorry for the delay, I am but a simple man who's had this problem for about 2 months.

It got me pretty far. "No game sound connected." basically tells me that CS recognizes there is no sound coming out, despite the game files and audio cache being fine.

No more ideas? Can't say I blame the community on that.
