CSGO volume too low

My csgo volume has become really low for the past days. Just CSGO, I can hear my teammates on ts3, or discord, or any other game/movie as good as I always did. But with CSGO, even with everything maxed out (csgo volume 1.0, windows at 100%, headphones, everything I can think of is at 100%) the sound is still waaaay too low. It isn't needed to say that just last week if I would have put my volume at those levels my ear would get raped.

I have been trying lots of config changes and I can't point it out to any specific cause. My drivers are up to day (and have been for months, no new version released). Everything is configured as always, and changing and trying different setups didn't make any difference.

This has been happening for a couple of days and it's driving me nuts. Low sounds like steps or scopes are barely audible (if at all), and in general volume feels like playing with ear protection headset. Is anyone else experiencing something similar?

No idea about your problem but sound for me today is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. Check last csgo updates,maybe they changed something. I just went in game and whole game sounds like a trash.

I've found out that turning on "Sound Equalization" in windows raises a bit (just a bit) the sound in csgo why lowering every other sound of the computer so it doesn't blow my ear. It is still not enough and the steps and quiet sounds are still way lower that what I'm used to, but it's something. If someone has the same problem try it out.

Yes probably, i have send a inury to Logitech, hoping their childs will be beheaded hard.

i had similiar problem one day. from nothing my volume just went down so drastically that i could not hear anything. but my volume was like 30% in game and 60% in windows so i just raised it and now its fine, but i didnt solve that problem

Any of you using a 3.5mm jack headphone with a Realtek card? I had (or have) the problem as well, very very quiet (but only in CS and everything is set to 100%). I have a stereo headset, set the mode in the Realtek console to 7.1 and ingame it's also set to stereo. I have my volume back. But it's annoying because I have to switch it back and forth because in other games I don't hear anything because it's a stereo headset afterall.

EDIT: Just to mention I tried reinstalling the game and cleared all the configs to default, it doesn't change anything. This got to be a CS issue. I even tried rolling back to older drivers as I suspected a driver update could have caused it.

recommend you update sound drivers and also check in game options for sound setting if using other players cfgs many times they change sound settings and boost others to hear footsteps better, can be done with a EQ

FYI, my problem fixed itself a few weeks after with a subsequent csgo update.


During that time I had to play with the windows 10 sound equalizer on to be able to hear steps and sights.

Im experiencing this same thing. It sounds muffled and noised are way too low

I have this problem, I use to play on 0.08 volume and now 1 isn't near as loud as It was before. Anyone know of a fix?

moose the problem comes from the settings of your "Hertz". Theses settings can be modifyed in windows setting.

I did have non-standard settings but setting it back to default (which I believe to be 16bit 48k), doesn't change anything. Only thing working for me still is to set my stereo headset to 7.1 which I have to constantly switch because other games don't have a dedicated option to set the game audio to stereo.

The past days i also have muffled and really low sound in csgo. It sounds like something is blocking the clear sound out. Sound in spotify, youtube etc. is normal.
In volume mixer, the green bar that appears when sound is displayed, barely moves for "csgo".
