CRT Monitors VS LCD Monitors
Recently I dug out my old Packard Bell CRT from my Windows 98/XP build from back in the day and decided as a joke too hook it up and i was supprised!

CS:GO Looked amazing on this old monitor, I had no Imput lag and it had good refresh rate (50hz, 60hz and 75hz rates to choose from) On the other hand my LCD monitor can only do 50hz.

I know CRT Technolgy is held back due to its disuse and LCD does have some advantages against CRTs.

What do you think? Do you think CRTs are good for competitive gaming or not?

He is asking a good Question, not like other people here do. And there are still comments from some dumb randoms.

Well, for one thing 75 hz was never "good" refresh rate on CRT monitor... Well, maybe till 2004 it was...

We'll it kinda was for a consumer grade CRT, I Don't own a Pro-grade Sony Trinitron which can do 120hz

CRTs are actually pretty decent compared to cheap or old LCDs since they indeed have barely any input lag.

I even never knew that my Triton can do that but it's not very power friendly. I'll rather pick a LCD because its more effecient and not sore my eyes.

Acctually CRTs take the same amount of electricity from the wall as your LCD its the High-Voltage inside the flyback transformer is what holds the rest of the electricity and aswell they don't really give you eye strain (If you have it set to a higher res and up the refresh rate). and what type of Trinitron do you have cause you could be sitting on a gold mine!

I think the only arguable benefit would be aspect ratio, but I cant figure how.

using a 16x9 in 4:3 mode causes models to become horizontally extended
which SOME use to improve hit boxes... (they become wider)

now a 4:3 montitor running in 4:3 wont have that weird inflation will it?
before the switch from CRT's to lcd widescreen, CRT's were FAR better in
quality. better colour, higher resolution (by a LOT) and faster refresh.
LCD style has improved markedly. last CRT I owned ran at 1600x1200 max.
I did not replace it until LCD's could FINALLY do fast HD. after what 10 years?

It makes you think if CRT technolgy was still being used we could of perfected 4k quicker than with LCD and LED. Along side that monitor i still have my Hitachi CRT TV Monitor from the 1980s and the picture looks awesome when i hook it up to my NES or Playstation One.
