4:3 Stretched resolution causes crashes
Hey.

PROBLEM:

Since I switched to a 4:3 stretched resolution [1280x960] I get these regular crashes that occur approximately 30-35 minutes into game.

The game freezes with a sound loop. The only solution is to start the task manager and terminate the csgo process.

Then after when I start the game the crash does not occur again. EVER. I can play the game for the rest of the day without any crash, which is great. Until I turn the PC off and on again. Then the crash occurs again.

MY SOLUTION:

The way I deal with the issue is that I tend to start the game cca 30 minutes in advance of a competitive match so to give it a chance to freeze and then I start it again without any fear of it freezing again. This method is effective, but can be a nuisance.

THE CAUSE:

I know for sure that the main cause of the issue is the stretched resolution which is not a native resolution for my monitor.

QUESTIONS FOR YOU:

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same or a similar issue.

How did/do you deal with it?
Is there any way of preventing this singular crash altogether?

Thanks for all your advice.

Jimmy

I have this same problem but it occurs like once every 2-3 games. Iv formatted computer, updated bios, changed drivers, tryid with an other GPU, different RAMs, Id like to play 1280x800 with streched but the games keeps freezing. No error messages in Windows Event viewer. After 1st crash it can happen again.
I have win7, i7 6700k, gtx 1070, benq 2430T monitor

I found a SOLUTION that is 100% working for me:

----------------
1. Before I start the game in my stretched resolution (1280x960), first I start the game in my NATIVE resolution (1920x1080).

2. Then in the Options>Video I make sure that the FXAA Antialiasing is Disabled. If it is not, I change it to Disabled and Apply.

3. Then I go to my inventory and inspect a random weapon. There is no need to inspect it for too long, just a few seconds. Maybe you can even skip this step, but this is what works for me.

4. After that, I close the game and go back to windows.

5. Then I set my graphics to my preferred stretched resolution and run the game.

6. Again, in the options I make sure that the FXAA Antialising option is set to Disabled.

That's it.
----------------

Ever since I've started following these simple steps, my game has never crashed again.
I don't even have to run the game for the said 30 minutes to enable it to crash on purpose as I used to do.
I can now play with my friends at any time. I just need a couple of minutes prior to the game to set it up the way I've described above.

I hope this helps!

I found my solution. In device manager i uninstalled all realteak audiodrivers + software. Then reboot and let Windows install Realtek drivers by itself. After that zero crash.
CS:Go was working fine almost an year before this crashing started happenin after tec9 patch...

Yhap that works for some reason weird but works thx
I have the only 100% solution to stop crashing on 4:3. Go to your desktop and change your main resolution to your in game resolution *Doesn't look the best on desktop* (I'm on a 2k monitor). After this go into cs and set the same resolution then change to full screen windowed. No more crashing. Just change the desktop resolution when playing other games. Pass it on!

Did you know that some player love to play 4:3 and play probably better than you. So just s*fu and answer his question instead of saying or mention that 16:9 is better. IT IS PERSONAL PREFERENCE
