Well, it does work. EU East selected, never gotten any other server.
And for the second part, Country thing? may be true, but not many choose a fake country. you`re extremely narrow minded.

It doesn't, stop lying. It has been patched for a long time now.
Even forcing regions with cvars doesn't work anymore.
