It stretches the image even further horizontally when in full-screen mode. Some pros, like FalleN, however prefer a correct 4:3 aspect ratio and therefore have selected a height of "960".

well, i have an AMD Graphic card & there i can create an own resolution but it always says error when i create like 1280x960 or 1440x1080

I had this issue too, but I fixed it. Go to your display settings and then navigate to custom resolutions. Click +Create and it should bring up a window with a lot of settings. Don't touch anything except for the ones I tell you to change.

1) Horizontal Resolution (px) = 1280 or 1440
2) Vertical Resolution (px) 960 or 1080
3) H.Timing Display = 1280 or 1440
4) H.Timing Display = 960 or 1080
>> REMEMBER DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT FOR THE ONES ABOVE

Go ahead and click save and it should go into your custom resolutions. Restart the computer and boot up CS:GO and you should be able to see your custom resolution pop up. Set ration to 4:3 and 1440x1080 or 1280x960.

I have a Benq XL2546 monitor and a RX 570 graphics card.
To make a 1280 on 960 game, go to the Radeon settings ... on the display tab ... and select a custom resolution.
We need 3 parameters:
1) Horizontal Resolution - 1280
2) Vertical Resolution - 960
3) Sync Standard - CVT
Save resolution.
The game will display a resolution of 1280x960 and will also be 240Hz

Fu all didn't work for me. After changing the resolution in cs2 for 1280x960 screen went black and showed dilsplay not supported and now whenever I get into game I just have black screen thank you very much.
