-w 1280 -h 960
On a side note, generally best quality 4:3 res on 16:9 monitor has same height as the 16:9, so for 1080p monitor its 1440x1080.
well, i have an AMD Graphic card & there i can create an own resolution but it always says error when i create like 1280x960 or 1440x1080
- Open your nVidia Control Panel and go to "Adjust desktop size and position" (if you have an AMD video card, search for "GPU scaling", "Screen scaling" or something along the lines). Now change the radio button to "Full-Screen" and Apply.
- Open this file: [steaminstallationfolder]\Steam\userdata\[userid]\730\local\cfg\video.txt
"setting.aspectratiomode" "1" // 0 = 4:3, 1 = 16:9, 2 = 16:10 Select "0" if you have a 16:9 screen and want the 4:3 aspect ratio to stretch without black bars.
"setting.fullscreen" "1" // must be set to fullscreen
"setting.defaultres" "1280" // this is the width
"setting.defaultresheight" "960" // this is the height (d'uh) Many select a height of 1024 instead of the mathematically correct 960 pixels in 4:3, which respresents the highest possible resolution for 4:3 in-game. It stretches the image even further horizontally when in full-screen mode. Some pros, like FalleN, however prefer a correct 4:3 aspect ratio and therefore have selected a height of "960".
You are done.Search for the following line:
Side note: If you do want black bars, set it to the native aspect ratio of your monitor, most likely that's "1" (16:9).
Now change the resolution (is has to be one that CS:GO is supporting):
I had this issue too, but I fixed it. Go to your display settings and then navigate to custom resolutions. Click +Create and it should bring up a window with a lot of settings. Don't touch anything except for the ones I tell you to change.
1) Horizontal Resolution (px) = 1280 or 1440
2) Vertical Resolution (px) 960 or 1080
3) H.Timing Display = 1280 or 1440
4) H.Timing Display = 960 or 1080
>> REMEMBER DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT FOR THE ONES ABOVE
Go ahead and click save and it should go into your custom resolutions. Restart the computer and boot up CS:GO and you should be able to see your custom resolution pop up. Set ration to 4:3 and 1440x1080 or 1280x960.
Hope it helps ^_^
This worked like a charm for me. Thanks!
PS the second H.Timing Display = V.Timing Display. I am sure most of you figured out. I changed it in the quote.
Launch Options: -w:1280 -h:960
Btw it'll b "4) V. Timing Display = 960 or 1080"
To make a 1280 on 960 game, go to the Radeon settings ... on the display tab ... and select a custom resolution.
We need 3 parameters:
1) Horizontal Resolution - 1280
2) Vertical Resolution - 960
3) Sync Standard - CVT
Save resolution.
The game will display a resolution of 1280x960 and will also be 240Hz
