Dota 2, HL:Alyx, and Artifact all run in Source 2.

Nothing gameplay wise would change, this wouldnt' be much different from when Source upgraded itself a few times (such as the Orangebox update).

So game mechanics won't change much but we can expect better looking maps.

Probably not better maps or graphics, no.

The move to Source 2 would help newer machines run the game better due to taking advantage of new APIs and stuff.

Source 2 does NOT mean different gameplay or "Better graphics" (somethings might improve but it's going to look the same).

Hopefully it would help with some weird things like the smoke bug, but even those kind of situations could probably be handled here in Source 1 if they had to fix it there.

Thanks

If you want a good game to compare

Serious Sam 3 BFE uses the serious engine 3.5

You can play this very same game on the 4.0 engine nothing changes from graphics other then all the additions to the engine. (but there are slight issues with movement and other odd bugs if you play it for speedruning/highscore running you will notice these)

So is it better for low end PCs if it moves to Source 2?

Probably not, no. But I do not know for sure.

Please link your source (no pun intended :taloslol:) to the claim that CS:GO is being ported to Source 2 even though they already ported all the relevant S2 parts into the game years ago.

If it is anyway connected to this, it is all false.

That doesn't say anything about porting it to S2. In fact...

It's a hint that working with the current engine is a pain
