There is a disagreement, I laid out some supporting evidence for myself and put forth a suggestion of how to resolve the disagreement and find out who is correct, repeating yourselves is kind of pointless.
Test what? Spectating live games? I did that to confirm before I said anything about it, you can hear it really easily (especially if you wait for round start and do it in spawn when bored people flip weapons around a bunch).
If you can't be bothered to do that for yourself, or are saying that you tried it and couldn't hear it, then I'll upload a quick video, just let me know if that's the case.
Testing with multiple people in a private server (to remove any issue caused by being a spectator) would require a second willing tester, which I don't have available at this time.
switching is definite yes.
That is literally what I already suggested as a test to resolve the disagreement and also already told you I can't do right now.
So it seems we're in agreement about exactly how to resolve the issue, and the next question is who is going to get a chance to make a short video showing it in the meantime, so that's good.
Why you didn't just state that agreement with my proposed test in the fisrt place I have no idea.
The one that just repeats the claim without actually showing it from an enemy perspective? The only enemy perspective I saw in that video was for falling damage, and I already addressed that.
You can't possibly think that proves anything, can you? Especially not with the guy talking over it so you can't hear the other sounds clearly anyway? It's basically the worst possible attempt at evidence that could be presented.
- Yes, switching any weapon to any other weapon makes sound at player's position; depending on the weapon, it might be different volume though;
- Yes, picking up a weapon is equal to switching and makes sound;
- Yes, reloading makes a very distinct sound on any weapon;
- Yes, scoping in and out makes sound; AWP's and Autosniper's are either completely same or very similar and fairly audible on a good headset; AUG's and SG553's is a very quiet "tlp" sound;
- Throwing weapon does not make a sound on its own, but the item landing on the ground does; also, when the player is pulling his other weapon after it, it makes sound as well;
- Inspecting item makes no sound.
- Using a spray makes sound for teammates, however, cannot verify that it does the same for enemies.
Each of these saved my in-game life dozens of times, in fact, I use sound to locate enemies all the time. However, I simply haven't seen anyone use Sprays outside their spawns, hence not being able to verify that.
