How many hours before you started playing competitive?
I had somewhere between 300 and 400 hours before I started playing competitive. I remember thinking I had to train alot in casual before I was good enough to play comp, and I though everyone who started out playing comp without training in casual beforehand were noobs who didn't know how online games work. I later found out that my opponents in competitive were on my level and not proffesionals. Were any of you guys afraid to play comp too?

This happened to me too. I only played competitive with my friends and not with other people, because I was so bad at the time and I only played Deathmatch or War Games

I was afraid I was gonna lose every game and get a really bad rank if I did that.

I played comp after about 20. Finished placement matches by 60 and landed right in smurf land.

Played it 100-200 hours over a very long period of time (from 2012 - 2016, so nearly nothing) against bots. Was never into CSGO. Stopped playing CS1.6 in 2015. Then I started playing competitive in start of 2017 (faceit and mm) and went up to global pretty fast.

So it's absolutely worth it learning the basics like maps, crosshairplacement, weapon characteristics etc. before joining into competitive mode. But as I said I had already experience in CS1.6 so I know how to teach myself.
