CS:GO CORE AFFINITY LOW FPS ISSUE
Greetings CS:GO players! I am a casual CS:GO player who recently upgraded from a GTX 1050ti and Pentium g4560 to a GTX 1060 6GB and i5 8400. Everything was great when I played my usual games, including BF1, Dota 2 (200 FPS), AC: Origins, and the like. I had massive improvements to my fps at higher settings with these games, so the same should be said with CS:GO, right?

CURRENT SETUP:

ASUS Dual OC GTX 1060 6GB
CORE i5 8400
ASUS B360M-A
8GB RAM

Turns out I was wrong.

My previous rig got me an avg fps of 200-300 on maps like mirage and cache, which is great and all, but my current setup only gives me 100-150 fps. For some reason, after thorough searching across various forums such as reddit, tomshardware, geforce, and just about anywhere I could see the tags gtx, csgo, low fps, low cpu usage, low gpu usage, etc., I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out why my setup is only dishing 100-140 FPS with people around. So I tried just about every possible fix these forums and "pc experts" gave.

The more I looked at OSD of MSI Afterburner, the more it dawned on me that with all cores enabled, only Core 2 and core 3 are being utilized to the max. Sounds about right, right? Afterall, CS:GO runs on the source engine and thus the numbers look fine, but there is no way that CS:GO is only able to use 2 cores of my 6-core processor.

So I tested different combinations of core affinity through task manager, please look at these images:

TL;DR: The results, in short, are:
ALL CORES ENABLED : Only CPU 2 and 3 are used. AVG FPS: 140.
CORE 1, 4, 5, and 6 ENABLED : All the enabled cores are used. AVG FPS: 420 < Shows improvement over my past setup.

Now, the question is, why is this happening? This might be a bug, or specific only to me, I do not know. Appreciate your thoughts on this one!

How did you enable only specific cores? I've had the same issue.

CS:GO uses namely two cores or, at most, a bit more (max CPU usage which I noticed was about 220% of single core performance).

Does not really explain the ~150% fps increase after disabling cores 1 and 2 in my case. It's probably specific to mine though.

I have same setup. All maps stable 300fps, sometime drops.

Go ahead man! Although it seems like the issue has fixed itself after the recent update.

Well, sorry for the late reply, but you can enable it through the task manager by right clicking the game on the details tab > set affinity. You will see there all the available cores which will depend on your cpu. I have a 6 core cpu so that's why I have 6 cores in the affinity window. Yours might differ!
some issue try reinstall game

This did not help me I get the same fps whatever cores I enable. I have an i7 9750h that has 6 cores and 12 threads.

Well, my post isn't really a fix, more like a bug that got fixed (probably in some update), but that sucks to hear.
