Overwatch question: Curving bullets?
Hi all!

Recently got an overwatch case that looks like a non-cheater reported for typing in chat too much.

I've already submitted my judgement and I've decided that there wasn't evidence beyond reasonable doubt that he was cheating, but I had a small question about some of his behaviour and how it relates to demo tickrate.

Specifically: In the second half of the game, he hits two individual sprays on enemies that "Clearly miss", but ONLY JUST. His crosshair placement is off, and his bullets genuinely look like they've just curved around the wall and hit their target. However, it's a total of about 7 bullets throughout the entire game.

Likewise, he also hits some headshots while aiming ONLY JUST at the necks of enemies on first round with USP. It looks suspicious enough that if you watched the replay you'd get mad, but it doesn't look like cheating at all to me, it just kind of looks like demo bugs/tickrate issues.

I'm really torn and I'm wondering what other people's opinions on this are, keeping in mind that I've already posted my judgement and I'm not here to have my opinion validated or to get "The right answer". I simply want to know what others think of this situation.

demo records in 32tick. That might explain all inperfections in crosshair placement. Might be just that
there are some cheaters on the forum here (or ex-cheaters i guess) that can tell you more about that but i think its the ability to shoot someone who peaked but has already hide back into supposed safety. i cant remember the cheat type name they call it.

That sounds a lot more like a tick-rate issue from my experience, but I don't doubt it's a real thing. Probably server-manipulation along some lines, if I had to guess.

as far as i'm concerned, you're refering to smth called "backtracking", i kinda know how it works (watched a couple of vids), but i don't think that what OP refers to

It’s either cause the replays are in 32 tick or it’s a silent aimbot set to the head, wherein any shots within the set fov hit the head, even if they miss. The guy could have a low fov silent aim, which explains the hits when the billets miss.

OH, I should clarify. NONE of the shots were headshots, they all hit the body.

I saw absolutely no chat logs in the game, despite him stopping in game randomly before moving again.

Silent aim doesn't get rid of snapping. It would still show up in the demo.

What you're looking for is psilent. Its kinda useless now but it still works if your fov is around 2-3 or lower if I remember correctly. It allows your bullets to hit even if you aren't aiming on them. It should also show up like that on the demo.

Im willing to bet money it was just an issue with the demo though. I haven't seen anyone use psilent in a very long time.

We aren't able to. That's not a job that we do as "Overwatchers".
